About La Fonda | Spanish Tapas Restaurant & Bar

On New Rd Side in Leeds, La Fonda runs as a Spanish tapas restaurant on an all-you-can-eat format, letting guests keep ordering additional dishes rather than settling on a fixed plate. The menu spans twenty dishes, with sangria available alongside. A private dining room accommodates groups, and the step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs. Families with young children are catered for with high chairs, and dogs are welcome at the table. Outdoor seating extends the room when the weather allows, and free Wi-Fi runs throughout. Those who prefer to eat off site can order takeaway or delivery. Reservations are recommended given the ordering format. The restaurant opens Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers consistently point to the all-you-can-eat tapas format as the main draw, with several praising the value (one cites £25 per head, another £65 for two including beers) and describing generous portions, including one diner who managed fifteen dishes between four people. Specific dishes drawing praise include the garlic mushrooms, the potatoes, and the sangria, alongside general enthusiasm for the Spanish cuisine and atmosphere, which multiple reviewers say makes them feel like they're in Spain. Service is repeatedly called friendly and attentive, with one reviewer highlighting a server who went out of his way to make the table feel relaxed. However, one detailed account describes a starkly different visit: understaffed with only two inexperienced workers, fifteen minutes to get drinks, an hour-long wait between food orders, small and sometimes cold portions, uncleared tables, and a tense atmosphere that led other diners to leave without ordering. A couple of reviewers also note the lack of a permanent host at the front of house, causing an awkward wait on arrival before being seated.

Passed La Fonda on a drive yesterday and thought we'd give it a try today. Food was spot on and a great selection. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, will definitely be back again.

Firstly, the food is amazing here. We will be back. We couldn’t believe how quiet it was for a Saturday night and a beautiful May bank-holiday weekend. People are missing out. The waitress explained that it was an all you can eat buffet. They bring you six dishes to start with and after that you can continue to order as many as you like. We managed to eat three additional dishes after the initial six, with some encouragement from the waitress. Our bill was £65.00 including a couple of beers each, great value on these expensive times. My one gripe, they could do with a permanent front of house . We had to stand awkwardly for a couple of minutes on arrival before we saw a manner of staff. However, once seated, zero complaints. Our new favourite place. If we don’t use these restaurants, we lose them. Give it a try. Highly recommended.

Where the data comes from
Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
How it stays current
Listings are re-checked in batches against their public profile, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
How it is ranked
Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
