Quick info
About BLACKHOUSE GASTROBAR
Blackhouse Gastrobar is a restaurant at 31-33 E Parade in Leeds, with a menu built on local and seasonal produce that changes regularly. Starters include belly pork, calamari and bone marrow tartare. The lunch and light bites menu lists steak frites, and steak also comes as a platter for two with sides. Sauces for the steak include peppercorn and red wine gravy. Steaks can be ordered rare, which takes longer to cook. The Sharer Sunday lunch is served in large portions, so it suits a table that wants to share. A Negroni is on the drinks list. A private dining room is available for groups.

Customer Review Summary
Steak is what most diners return to describe, from a platter for two with pink steak, peppercorn sauce and red wine gravy to steak frites on the lighter lunch menu and rare steaks that staff warned would take longer. Close behind are the generous starters, with belly pork and bone marrow tartare singled out, and a sharer Sunday lunch with portions one reviewer says could feed four. Calamari, chicken wings, fish and chips and a wagyu beef burger were called tasty, while the sticky toffee pudding prompted a wish for more sauce and the onion rings were called oily with too much batter. Service is praised repeatedly, with several servers described as lovely, polite and informative. The one sharply negative lunch visit describes a steak that arrived raw, chips swimming in oil, cocktails landing after the mains and staff on the terrace ignoring the table. Other visits close on small gestures: a birthday treat, a Father's Day gift bag and a prize draw that won one table a free meal.

“Incredible dinner at Blackhouse Leeds! Saul was our server and was great to chat with. The food was incredible. Platter for 2 of steak and sides was prepared and cooked perfectly, nice and pink steak with a nice grill and their peppercorn sauce and red wine gravy is among the best. Will definitely go back if we're ever back in Leeds! Thank you to the team”

“Lovely gastropub, great atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. We had calamari and chicken wings to start, followed by fish and chips and wagyu beef burger, all very tasty. Wouldn't recommend the onion rings, topo much batter to onion ratio and very oily.”

“Stopped for lunch and a drink. It is Negroni week, so had to sample one or two. Lovely welcome from the staff and Freddie looked after us beautifully. Would 100% recommend this place.”

“My partner and I just had the best experience at Blackhouse Leeds. We had a sharer sunday lunch for £60 - the portion size was immense (definitely plenty for 4 people!) and we were reassured we could take some home if we needed. The food was SO good. Everything was absolutely delicious. Overall value for money was incredible and the quality was Very good. What really elevated our overall experience was the service. We had Freddie as our server and who was such a lovely genine person. He made sure we were very well looked after and went completely above and beyond to make our time at the restaurant the absolute best. Thank you Freddie!!!!!”

“Had a lovely birthday lunch here, me and my friend got the steak frites and the mojo salad as part of their lights bites menu which was very nice! Eden then brought over a small birthday treat for us, thank you!!”
