About Miro
Opposite the Parkinson Building at 29 Leeds LS2 9HD, Miro is a cafe serving the university crowd across the street. The room offers spacious seating that suits students during lunchtime, and outdoor seating is available for those who prefer to eat outside. The menu runs from sandwiches and English breakfast to mezze, pasta, and a soup of the day with toast, alongside poached eggs and avocado on toast. Homemade chocolate chip cookies and cheesecake round out the counter. Miro takes walk-ins rather than bookings and opens daily. Community posters promoting local activities are displayed around the cafe, giving it a link to events beyond the menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food and coffee as good value near the university, with the homemade chocolate chip cookies and the cheesecake, called legendary by one diner, singled out by name. Poached eggs and avocado on toast, a vegetarian breakfast and the soup of the day with toast also draw praise, and several describe the coffee as excellent or lovely. Service is described repeatedly as friendly, quick and efficient, even at lunchtime, and one reviewer prefers it to the chain coffee shop across the street.

“Grim ! In a word ! The meals are served in microwaveable plastic dishes on a porcelain plate which is somewhat bizarre … the sandwiches are the most unappealing I think I have ever seen, much better are available 20m up the slope … as for the coffee, appalling is being generous, burnt grounds and poor quality along with a lack of knowledge or care. The fit out is worn to the point of destruction with many chairs having little or no original covering left that isn’t worn through. It’s dirty shabby and frankly unloved I get the impression the owners have given up or perhaps their proximity to the university main building allows them to continue. Nice chap serving one presumes he’s the owner ?”

“Always lovely service in here, and quick too even at lunchtime. Generally pleasant. Food is decent for price. Cleanliness of cafe area could do with improvement however as it can be quite grubby.”

“It's the best independent cafe near the uni. The cheesecake is legendary. It has all sorts of food, English breakfast, Mezze, pasta or a humble soup of the day with toast. All reasonably priced. The coffee is excellent. I go there almost every time I am at Uni for my lunch or for a coffee.”
