About Lento Cafe & Bar
Two kitchens run out of one room at Lento Cafe & Bar, a cafe on North Lane in Leeds. By day the counter turns out cooked breakfasts served all day, including a full English and a vegetarian version, alongside toasties such as chorizo, tomato and Brie on thick bread, with coffee, pastries and cakes to follow. In the evening the cooking shifts to Hong Kong style Chinese and Vietnamese dishes, and an evening set menu covering a range of plates can be pre-booked, so reserving ahead is advised if you are coming for dinner. The entrance is step-free for visitors with mobility needs, and outdoor seats let you eat in the open air. Dogs are welcome. It sits within walking distance of the Headingley cricket ground, which makes it workable for lunch before a game. The kitchen opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is what brings reviewers back most often, above all the full English, described as freshly cooked and huge, with one regular noting there are no tinned tomatoes in sight; others single out the all day breakfast and the vegetarian breakfast. Close behind sits the evening food, a blend of Vietnamese, Chinese and Hong Kong cooking, with one group praising a set menu of many dishes and another calling it the best HK food they have had in Leeds, portions repeatedly called huge and prices reasonable. Also named: a chorizo, tomato and Brie toastie, sandwiches on thick bread, chips straight out of the fryer, and one of the foamiest cappuccinos a coffee drinker says they have had. Staff and the owner come up again and again as friendly and welcoming, one describing the gentleman behind the counter as always ready to crack a joke. Diners who came in the evening suggest booking ahead, and one mentions the coffee and pastry or cake deals that turn up.

“Lovely little cafe. It appeared to be an English food cafe on first appearance, but it quickly became obvious that it was very popular with the Chinese community and it soon filled with families having lunch. Lovely sandwiches served on thick bread. The toasties were very hot, and the chips were straight out of the fryer! Great value too. Would recommend if you're wanting lunch before a game at headingley stadium 👍”
