About The New Captains Table
The New Captains Table is an old-school caff in Leeds, at 1 Easy Rd, where the cooking centres on breakfast. The full English comes with fried bread alongside bacon, sausage, fried eggs, hash brown, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast, and a brew goes with the plate. A smaller breakfast of bacon, sausage, beans, egg, toast and tea suits a lighter order. Guests can pair breakfast with tea or a large mug of coffee. The kitchen also makes a bacon butty.

Customer Review Summary
The full English breakfast is what most reviewers return for, described as a proper old-school greasy spoon fry-up with generous portions and good value. Fried bread comes up repeatedly, with one reviewer calling it out of this world, and another calls the golden eggs the best they have seen in a cafe. Others mention a delicious bacon butty and a large mug of coffee served with a first English breakfast. Several describe friendly, hospitable staff and a clean room that is not swimming in grease, and one says every particular request was met without hesitation. The one dissenting reviewer called the cafe mucky and run down, said the sausages and spam were basically charcoal, and found the customer service shocking. The other reviewers leave full and happy. One says the heating is a delight on cold mornings, and another says a small breakfast of bacon, sausage, beans and egg kept them going all morning.

“Very mucky cafe, sausages and spam was basically charcoal and customer service was shocking this is the worst experience I’ve ever had anywhere. This is a very run down cafe. Much better cafes in Leeds that have a Lovely atmosphere and staff. edit- I actually had our meal to take out thanks/ dunno if they must have many bad experiences to think we stayed over a hour”

“I almost walked right past this place — I wasn’t even sure it was open! What a mistake that would have been. I’m so glad I stepped inside. It’s rare these days to find a proper old-school greasy spoon: no frills, no fuss — just great food at honest prices. I can be quite a particular customer, but every request was met without hesitation. I ordered a classic British favourite, the bacon butty, and it was absolutely delicious. I’m leaving full, happy, and already looking forward to my next visit.”

“Can't fault this. I had a small breakfast, tea, toast: total £6, which is excellent value these days. Breakfast was 2 bacon, 1 sausage, beans, egg cooked very nicely. I really enjoyed it and it kept me going all morning. Shame I don't live closer!”
