Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is what diners return to most, with beef served pink, chicken described as moist, and lamb called incredibly soft, all with a red wine gravy one reviewer rates among the best they have had. Vegetarian and chicken gravy were also provided for a table that does not eat beef. Close behind, the pork schnitzel with anchovies is singled out as a highlight, alongside the keema shepherd's pie, the famous sausage roll, and the bacon and egg trifle. Others praise the paneer kebab, brown bread ice cream, arctic roll and champagne jelly. On the drinks side, reviewers mention the Guinness, the house lager, and a good range of cask and keg beers. The one recurring trade-off is getting in: several describe waiting months for a table, and one reviewer who tried to rebook was quoted five months for a weekend, with a few advising booking first. Service is called quick and friendly, and one reviewer notes the landlord took time to talk about the pub's history. One diner says staff recommended anchovies and brought over hot sauce for the schnitzel.

“I recently visited The Highland Laddie in Leeds and had an absolutely fantastic dining experience. I started with the paneer kebab, which was full of flavour and a delicious way to begin the meal. For the main course, I had the keema shepherd’s pie, which was a brilliant twist on a classic dish. It was incredibly tasty, hearty, and packed with flavour. To finish, I had a banana split, which was the perfect sweet ending to an excellent meal. The food was outstanding throughout, and it’s clear that a great deal of thought and creativity goes into the menu. The atmosphere was also fantastic, creating the perfect setting for a relaxed meal and a drink. After this visit, it’s easy to see why The Highland Laddie is deserving of its reputation as one of the best pubs in Leeds. The combination of excellent food, a great atmosphere, and a unique menu makes it a real standout. I’ll definitely be returning!”

“It took us a few months to get a reservation but it was worth the wait! Sublime food, great beer, outstanding service. We all had the Sunday roasts (chicken and vegetarian) which were exceptional and very generous in terms of portions. Every detail taken care of, vegetarian and chicken gravy (as we don’t eat beef). Believe the hype!”

“One of the England's best pubs, tucked around a corner where you would not expect it. It catches the vibe of a traditional "spit and sawdust" pub with the quality of service and food of a top restaurant. Sunday roast was fantastic, chicken was moist and beef was perfectly pink (it was served pink so if that's an issue for you, maybe don't order beef, or live a little and I promise you will love it). The sides were fantastic as well, pees with little bits of bacon in, simply stunning. Well worth the trip out the town centre and I look forward to returning.”

All delicious and would order again….lush💕💕These were small plates. Service here always quick and friendly. Highland Laddie lager very nice. Arctic roll and champagne jelly for pud😋 This is a lovely pub! Thank you💕💕”
