Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the food at the Cochrane Inn, with the trio of haggis, Cullen skink and baked mushrooms, duck breast with red cabbage and apple, and braised beef shin singled out. Reviewers also mention teriyaki beef noodles, Beef Bourguignon, lemon tart and a wide choice across the set menu, mains and daily specials. Close behind is the staff, described repeatedly as friendly, helpful and fast, with one visitor noting the owner let them in to ask about a reservation while in running gear. Several call the room lovely, cosy and clean, and one enjoyed sitting outside on a sunny day. Criticism is limited but specific. One Sunday lunch diner found part of a sirloin chewy and hard to cut with a steak knife, and felt two Yorkshire puddings only filled the plate. Another was seated by the door when other tables were empty, felt the chill as people passed, and was served a pint of Guinness in an Amstel glass. One reviewer said the food was still great, and another praised the sticky toffee pudding.

“My family and I had a fantastic experience at the Cochrane Inn. We were visiting the area for three nights before heading on to Glen Coe. The food was exceptional every night, with plenty of options from the set, main and specials menus—not forgetting the cocktails! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome and sharing lots of useful information about places to explore during our trip. Highly recommend the Cochrane Inn!”

“Had a lovely late lunch, excellent service, very tasty and enjoyable specials. The restaurant was not busy at the time but that did not detract from the great service and tasty food. Will definitely be going again.”

“Last week's meal was superb but not as good this time around my wife and I had the sirloin Sunday lunch one bit of my steak was beautiful the other was very chewy and was even difficult to cut with the steak knife. There is certainly no need for 2 Yorkshire puddings just to make the plate look full. Sticky toffee pudding excellent so my wife said. I only eat a banoffee pie or banoffee Sunday just a shame that this wasn't on the menu.”
