Customer Review Summary

Shredded duck with pancakes is the dish reviewers raise most, called superb and an absolute masterpiece. Close behind are the set menus, with one group of seven finishing stuffed after four ordered set meal D and the rest chose individually, and the honey glazed ribs, described as freshly cooked. One reviewer singles out the vegan options. Most describe friendly, speedy service, good portions and a very busy room, and one says to book a table because the place is so occupied. Another notes a group only gets a couple of hours if seated early. The one sharply negative review found the sizzling chicken with ginger and spring onion beige and mono flavour, with nothing beyond a couple of spring onions, and said the spring rolls had a strange taste and were better from a supermarket. A milder complaint mentions a forgotten straw and cutlery and no larger soft drinks. One diner adds that almost every dish arrives decorated with roses made of vegetables.

“I absolutely love this little restaurant! The staff are always lovely, perfect service. The food is incredible, top quality ingredients, fresh, good portions and doesn’t leave you regretting your decision (which I normally feel when I get Chinese anywhere else!) The restaurant is small, but more than enough space with lots of different size tables for different party sizes! It’s always lovely and clean. My only problem with this restaurant is that I wish I could eat here way more often than I do! ❤️”

“Wow! We had not been to Trongs before but had heard really good things about it. We went last night and had a brilliant evening. The staff were so attentive and friendly, the food was delicious and such a lovely atmosphere. It was really busy and everyone looked to be enjoying themselves. We will definitely be going again. We had 2 set menus which I would recommend. Thank you for a fabulous time”

“They provide a really good menu with excellent vegan options. Everything is fresh and delicious. The service is speedy, polite and kind. It's always busy, probably more than any other restaurant in ipswich but I think that's cos it's the best place. Really recommend it!”

“Very disappointing food. Beige, poor quality chicken, mono flavour. Was recommended this restaurant but sadly won’t be visiting again. I had the sizzling chicken with ginger and spring onion. Couldn’t identify which was chicken and which was pickled ginger. Very cheap, low grade ingredients and no imagination. I expected to see at least some sliced onions and maybe peppers but nothing other than a couple of spring onions. I also had the spring rolls for starter. These had a strange taste. Better from the supermarket. Friendly, speedy service and environment was ok but food awful. I eat out a lot and this was some of the poorest I’ve had in a while. Better to have gone to a chain such as Wagamama’s for more flavour and colour”
