Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out friendly, accommodating service, with one party of 11 in the garden room describing a waitress who stayed attentive despite the size of the group. The food comes close behind. Diners name the king prawn linguine, bangers and mash, Sunday roast beef and roast turkey, lamb chops with grilled Mediterranean vegetables, and corn fed chicken with dauphinoise potatoes. One family praises the scotch egg, fish fingers and bear burger, along with the gluten free options and kids menu. Portions are called huge and just right. The glowing fire and the garden with its pond add to a lovely, cozy atmosphere, and one reviewer notes the ceiling keeps noise down even when the room is full. The wine list earns a mention too, including a French Provence rose. The one criticism is the apple crumble, where the filling was too liquidy and the crumble too hard. Staff there also welcomed the birthday cake the large group brought along.

“We had a drink in the garden room. Lovely pub, really beautiful interiors - cosy and classy. Had a noise softening ceiling which was great as not too loud even with lots of people dining.”

“My wife, daughter and I visited the Bear Inn for the first time this past Friday evening and had a great time! The food was delicious - the service was some of the best I’ve experienced and the atmosphere was exactly as you’d expect. Isabelle our waitress was brilliant - a real asset to the team. Their gluten free options were so good too - and they have a good kids menu. Will definitely be back - and can highly recommend!”

“Very enjoyable meal on a Saturday night. I had lamb chops with grilled Mediterranean vegetables, my wife had corn fed chicken with dauphinoise potatoes. Both were excellent and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and prompt. Would recommend.”

“Wonderful lunch for 11 people in the garden room. It was a hot day and the pub has a room where the windows completely open. I was actually stunned by how nice it was because I had never been before. The blonde waitress was very friendly and attentive to us despite being such a big party. Really accommodating, we brought our own birthday cake too. The food was good and the portions were actually huge!”

“We had a lovely meal yesterday with our friends and bearing in mind it was lunchtime, we all commented what a lovely atmosphere and how super to have a fire glowing. We could not fault the food and the portions, which I must say in other venues seem to be getting smaller, were just right. Sadly we had no room for dessert which had very good selection on the menu. We will for sure be back.”
