Customer Review Summary
Chai draws the most mentions, with karak and Kashmiri chai called excellent, fantastic and good, and one diner served a karak chai with almost no sugar as asked. Others found the tea watery, overly sweet, or fine but nothing out of the ordinary. Close behind are the desi breakfasts, including masala omelette, puri, halwa and chana, plus the Tawa platter with biryani and paratha, samosa chaat and a San Sebastian cheesecake. Complaints centre on service and consistency. One breakfast order arrived far later than promised with a plain omelette, and two reviewers said staff seemed uninterested or argued when they raised a samosa chaat that tasted like plain chickpea chaat and a halwa that was too sweet. Others found Tawa portions small and spicy chips bad. Several praise friendly staff, and one big family found paying at the counter for every order annoying.

“We were big family so each time you order you need to go to till order and pay. That was pretty annoying. Tawa option had very little portions. Noodles were not worth ordering. Spicy chips were really bad. Rest of food was ok flavour. Kashmiri chai and kara chai were good.”

“I am regular customer of Mi Chai. I always find their chai very good quality but I was really disappointed with today’s experience. The tea was watery and the Halwa was too sweet. I call the staff member and complained that the food is missing the usual flavour. The staff was not willing to listen and started counter arguments. A complete waste of money.⭐☆☆☆☆”

“All day breakfast including masalah omelette, masalah beans, masalah chips were very tasty. Another all say breakfast including puri, halwa and chana were also very tasty. The taste of chana is the best I had so far in Ilford. Halwa was not very sweet and not oily, which was what I was looking for - the best halwa, I had so far. Puri also was well-drained and not too oily - exactly what I wanted. The staff were friendly and ever-smiling. I asked for sugar free or very less sugar karak chai and the staff were accommodating to serve me karak chai with less sugar that tasted like almost no sugar - exactly what I asked for. I would recommend this place. Food is tasty, staff are friendly and the environment is pleasing and comfortable.”

“visited Mi Chai with very high expectations because of all the hype, but unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The food quality was poor and lacked flavour. Even the samosa chaat tasted more like a basic chickpea chaat than an actual samosa chaat. When I brought this to the attention of the reception staff, they showed little interest and did not seem concerned. The tea was equally disappointing. It tasted like it was loaded with extra sugar, with hardly any proper tea flavour coming through. It was overly sweet and unpleasant to drink. To make matters worse, the customer service was poor. The reception staff came across as passive and uninterested, which left a bad impression. Overall, it felt like a waste of time and money. I won’t be returning and would not recommend it based on my experience. ⭐☆☆☆☆”
