About King Karahi
King Karahi is an Indian restaurant in Hounslow, on Great West Rd at number 508, open Tuesday to Sunday and closed Mondays. The kitchen cooks Mughlai and wider Indian dishes, with karahi dishes and the mixed grill mix tawa among the mains. Garlic naan comes to the table on a tall stand, and the naans are big. Guests can bring their own alcohol, which lets them pair their own bottle with the meal, and draught Cobra is on tap for anyone who would rather order one at the restaurant. The restaurant sits on a Red Route, so parking can be a problem during the day, though it is usually fine after 7pm.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the butter chicken and dal makhani, with the garlic naan, served on a tall stand according to one reviewer, close behind. Mixed grills, karahi dishes, lamb chops and lamb curries, chilli gobi and paneer also come up, and several describe the cooking as authentic Punjabi rather than takeaway-style curry. Reviewers repeatedly praise the bring-your-own-alcohol arrangement and call the portions generous, with group dinners and family meals a common setting. Service draws mostly warm remarks, including a chef and owner who accommodated special orders and a team that customised dishes. One reviewer was less pleased: the noise from the BYOB crowd made for a loud dinner, items had to be requested two or three times, and a plate of sliced onions arrived after about ten minutes and was billed as a salad. Another reviewer notes the street parking can be tight, though not after 7pm. One repeat visitor describes bringing ten colleagues and leaving with enough food for everyone to take home.

“Excellent food, the garlic naan comes on a tall stand and every piece you tear is delicious and wonderful. From the chaat to the chicken tikka to the lamb curry is exceptionally delicious. Take your own booze makes it very reasonable. Draught Cobra served on tap. Parking is usually OK but can be an issue as KK is on Red Route. After 7pm never an issue. Just go and socialise - kids, parents and grandparents - enjoy the food.”

“During my official trip to London, I visited King Karahi on Great West Road, Hounslow for dinner with my friends on 27th June, and this was one of the finest Punjabi food experiences I've had outside India. We ordered Pulao, Dal Tadka, Paneer, and several other dishes. Every bite was packed with authentic flavours, rich spices, and the warmth of home. The food was so genuine that we completely forgot we were in London—it honestly felt like we were enjoying a meal in Punjab. What makes this place truly special is its owner and head chef, Dilpreet Singh Matharu. Even after successfully running the restaurant for almost 12 years, he still chooses to spend his time where his passion lies—in the kitchen, personally preparing food for his customers. His love for cooking, commitment to quality, and attention to detail are evident in every dish served. The hospitality was equally impressive. The staff were incredibly humble, polite, and accommodating. They happily went the extra mile to customize our order and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our visit. A heartfelt appreciation to Dilpreet Singh Matharu for preserving the true taste of Punjab in London, and to the entire team for their outstanding service. If you're craving authentic Punjabi cuisine that tastes just like home, King Karahi is a place you simply cannot miss. We'll definitely be back whenever we're in London. Highly recommended!”

“I recently visited King Karahi and had a very enjoyable experience. The food was fresh, full of flavour, and tasted truly authentic Punjabi style. The karahi dishes were perfectly cooked with rich spices, and the naan was soft and delicious. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making sure everything was comfortable for us throughout the meal. Portions were generous and good value for money, especially with the BYO option which makes dining even better. The atmosphere is lively and perfect for families or group dinners. Overall, a great place if you want proper traditional taste rather than typical takeaway-style curry. I would definitely visit again and recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Indian/Punjabi food in Hounslow.”
