Quick info
About The Cricketers
On Damask Green Rd in Hitchin, The Cricketers is a pub and restaurant in the North Hertfordshire village of Weston. Pizza comes out of a wood oven shaped like a cricket ball, and the menu also covers breakfast, including avocado and eggs. The pavilion restaurant sits beside a traditional pub bar, so the same site works for a sit-down meal or a drink. For families, a children's play area has a separate section for older kids and a small football pitch for kicking a ball around. Dogs are welcome. Larger groups can reserve tables by phone, which suits parties that mix adults and children.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the children's play area and big outdoor space, with a separate area for older kids and a small football pitch, alongside pizza from the cricket ball inspired wood oven. Fresh pizzas win praise from families, and the beer gets a mention too. Several describe friendly, accommodating staff who handled a group of 13 and found two tables at short notice for four kids and four adults. One reviewer calls the Sunday breakfast of avocado and eggs nice but fairly standard, wishing for something more creative. The sharpest complaints come from one diner who was brought wrong items twice and felt the food was average and expensive, and another who found the food just okay and warned that the back gate is always open, which worries them for young children near the road. Others mention plenty of parking out the back and dog-friendly mornings, and one family closes by saying kids loved the park area and the pizzas.

“I can't thank Harley and the team enough for making our visit so enjoyable. The staff were super accommodating and handled our group of 13 with ease, which really made the day smooth and pleasant. The food was spot on, and everything from the drinks to the atmosphere was just perfect. It truly felt like a home away from home, even on a tough day. Highly recommend this place!”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We recently attended an event at The Cricketers in Weston with our mascots, and we couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome! All of the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble, and they really looked after us throughout the event. The venue itself is fantastic, with ample parking, plenty of seating, a great children's play area, and the perfect combination of outdoor dining, restaurant space and a traditional pub atmosphere. It's a lovely family friendly venue with something for everyone, and we'd happily return again and again. The food is SUPER tasty too!! Thank you for having us, we look forward to visiting again soon! 😊”

“A great family pub, with a nice play area for smaller children and another area for older ones as well. Food is good, beer is great and they make a great pizza in their 'Cricket Ball' inspired wood oven, a nice place to enjoy and relax with friends and family 👍”

“A gem of a village pub serving 'pizzas, pints and playground' in the North Hertfordshire village of Weston. With a local’s bar, pavilion restaurant and acres of beer garden, families, muddy boots and dogs very welcome. Nearby to Stevenage, Hitchin, Baldock and Letchworth, The Cricketers has all the characteristics of a traditional village pub blended with a few modern twists, including our beloved cricket ball pizza oven.”
