Quick info
About The Parson's Nose
On Lisburn St in Hillsborough, The Parson's Nose serves British pub food across a menu of 44 dishes, with wood-fired sourdough pizza alongside seafood and steaks. The confit and roasted duck pizza is a recurring version of that pizza. Sunday roast dinners are offered, with sticky toffee pudding appearing as a regular dessert, and pork belly turns up both as a standalone dish and within the roast. Chicken wings and flat breads are served for sharing at lunch, and a vegan or gluten-free option can be requested in place of standard dishes. The dining room has a wood burning stove, and an outdoor seating area extends the space for eating outside. Table service is provided, with card payments accepted. The entrance is step-free for visitors with mobility needs, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout. It opens daily, and reservations are recommended.

Customer Review Summary
Pizza recurs most often as the standout, from the sourdough versions to the confit duck and roasted shredded duck varieties, with one disappointed diner even advising to "get the pizza and a few drinks" since other dishes proved hit and miss. Close behind, the Sunday roast draws consistent praise, with beef and pork belly repeatedly called tender and full of flavor, though several other reviewers report the opposite: hard, undercooked vegetables, fatty beef, and one family describing mains that arrived at different temperatures, apparently microwaved, after a long wait. The sticky toffee pudding comes up often too, most calling it delicate and tasty, though one reviewer found the sauce and pudding lukewarm. Other named dishes include the pork schnitzel special with braised potatoes, the loaded fries with ox cheek, and a butternut squash and chilli soup, though a soup of the day is described elsewhere as tasteless and lukewarm. Service is generally called friendly and attentive, though one diner recounts confusion and embarrassment when a card payment was mistakenly flagged as declined at the table.

“"I love coming here for pizza, and tonight’s was still very tasty! The base did feel quite a bit thinner than usual though —my husband also had pizza and his base was thicker - I just prefer having a little more substance to it. Thanks for a lovely dinner!"”

“Don’t get me wrong the place is beautiful and has a very relaxing energy. However the food was a disappointment. We got the soup of the day as a starter and it had no taste at all and came out lukewarm at best. My partner got the pizza and he loved it. I got the supreme of chicken and it was extremely salty with no other flavours in the dish except that. After this we just paid our bill and didn’t even stay for dessert as it became clear it was very hit and miss. If you’re coming here get the pizza and a few drinks as everything else will most likely be left for chance.”

“Went for a family Sunday dinner. We went for a starter and main. Starter was nice and it came out with kids food. We then waited 30minutes for our mains and the food was all different temperatures - very evident the food had been microwaved. Not what we expect when paying £36 for 2 courses. Very disappointing.”

“Visited on Sunday following a recommendation. We were all very disappointed with our meals. We ordered roast beef dinners, vegetables had not been cooked properly. I do enjoy my veg cooked al dente but unfortunately ours were just very hard and difficult to cut. The beef had a good flavour but at least two of us had very fatty slices. The dessert of sticky toffee pudding was again tasteful, but the sauce and the pudding were lukewarm at best. Extremely disappointing.”

“Meal well presented. We waited over 30 mins to arrive and was cold. Think it sat in kitchen too long before being brought to table. Gastro pub but high end restaurant prices.”
