About Tomatitos
Tomatitos is a tapas bar on Lion St in Hereford, set in a bed-and-breakfast with a garden and open Wednesday to Saturday only. The menu runs to 45 dishes of small plates meant to be shared, so a table can order several and pass them around. Aubergine fries, a Tortilla and Overnight House Baked Bread with Confit Garlic Aioli sit among them, alongside squid, a roasted cauliflower dish and patatas bravas in a large sharing portion. Many dishes are vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, and a specials board changes often. The drinks list covers local brewery beers, wine and sangria. Dogs are welcome, and the bar is closed Sunday to Tuesday.

Customer Review Summary
Aubergine fries are the dish reviewers raise most, called "to die for" by several and a repeat order for visitors who ate here two nights running. Close behind are the roasted cauliflower salad, the chicory and blue cheese ensaiada, calamari, and a slow cooked pork and date stew, with one diner singling out a lime pot with brandy snap for dessert. Reviewers describe generous, reasonably priced portions, plenty of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free choices, and a specials board where dishes change often. Service is repeatedly called friendly and quick, including a waitress who fitted in a family with a pram and an owner who went through the menu with a guest who had allergies. The recurring complaints come from two reviewers. One, after a change of hands, was told there was no chance of a table and felt the friendly atmosphere had gone. Another finds it now too formal and aimed at tourists rather than locals. One diner even sent the bill back, convinced they had been undercharged.

“Absolutely spot on in every way. Best food we have had on our many visits to Hay”

“Absolutely fabulous from the moment we walked in. My friend had allergies and the owner came and went through the menu with her. The Sangria made by the lovely and knowledgeable barmaid was like being in Madrid. Every dish ( we had 7, and pudding) was interesting and tasty. Coup de grace, excellent value.”

“Wonderful tapas ~ the best I’ve had in a long time. Delicious.”

“What a wonderful, cosy little restaurant stuffed with authentic Tapas, rich flavours, fresh ingredients, and a buzzy atmosphere. We wandered in - tired and hungry from travelling and a busy day - on the off-chance of a table tonight (5th June) and snapped up the last available table at the time, and we were not disappointed. Especially gorgeous was the squid and the cauliflower, and the tiny olives in the mixed olive bowl. As visitors to Hay-on-Wye, it was our first dinner experience here of the weekend…and it was spot on from start to finish.”
