Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return to the ham, egg and chips, praising the tender ham, fresh eggs and hand cut chips, with several calling the food home cooked, hot and generous. Scampi, lamb shank with mint gravy and a rich chocolate fudge cake also earn praise, and one reviewer found a stash of nuggets in a basket meal. Close behind is the welcome: diners describe friendly staff, a landlord who kept a table laughing, and a barman who was easy to chat with. Dog owners repeatedly note that dogs are welcome in the bar, with a fireplace at each end, a bowl of water provided and locals who fussed over them. A good beer selection, including Welsh beer, comes up more than once. The only caveat is minor: one reviewer found some menu items unavailable, though they were told upfront. One group rang ahead on a Sunday evening and was told the kitchen would stay open until they arrived.

“I always pop in to rhos friendly pub whenever I am on route to my caravan. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to help. Today (Sunday) we rang up to enquire if food was still available at 8pm. We were advised they would hold the kitchen open until we got there. The Ham, Egg and chips are great The ham is bloody quality, very fresh eggs and the chips were hand cut and tasty. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. Seating area outside as well. Dogs are welcome in the bar.”

“Cosy and welcoming pub, came here in the week for lunch. The food was delicious and great portions, we had scampi and lamb shank. Chips were very tasty and the lamb was succulent with delicious mint gravy. The chocolate fudge cake was also delicious and rich! Good selection on beer including Welsh beer. The land lady was very friendly, the pub had a lovely atmosphere with lots of cool decor. We very much enjoyed our time here, would recommend!”

“Whilst walking our dog's on holiday, we came across this lovely pub, and decided to stop for a drink and have some lunch. The pub is dog friendly, with a lovely warm fireplace at each end 😀 The people there were so friendly and loved the dog's, the food is absolutely delicious and highly recommended, there is also a good selection of beers 😋 We enjoyed it so much today that we are going again tomorrow for lunch.”

“What a brilliant pub! Honestly one of the friendliest places we’ve ever been not just the staff, but everyone inside. Such a great sense of humour too, with funny signs everywhere that kept us laughing. We only popped in for a couple of drinks after getting to the village late that night, but the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming we actually joked about moving there 🤣. Super dog-friendly as well! Everyone adored our big dog, which made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. Such a gem of a pub can’t recommend it enough!”
