About Sage
Sage is a restaurant in Grimsby at 21 Osborne St, where the menu is displayed on chalkboard walls instead of paper menus, so there are no printed copies to hand around. The starter list includes king prawns, and seabass appears among the mains. The menu also lists burgers, including a Spanish burger, and flatbreads. Reservations are required at Sage, so each table is arranged ahead of the visit rather than on arrival.

Customer Review Summary
The recurring complaint is the menu on the chalkboard walls. One reviewer says reading it means standing in the middle aisle by other people's tables and wants paper menus, while another liked the chalkboards. The most serious negative is one booked special occasion where the host repeatedly remarked on the party arriving five minutes early. They were told to wait at the bar and were offered a complimentary flat lager poured from two already-opened cans, with no apology. They left.

“Fabulous! What a gem in the heart of Grimsby this is! Our first visit tonight did not disappoint. From the warm welcome we received as we walked through the door to the moment we left, we were treated to a really special evening. The food choice and quality were excellent. “Both me and my wife have been to Sage in the past, we had not been recently and decided to go on Saturday night. The staff were superbly attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was very calm but friendly, a lovely vibe throughout. The food was absolutely superb. I had Kofte for main and the wife had Seabass, both were cooked to perfection and genuinely so tasty. Thank you for reminding me why I love this place, we will be back soon!”

“Absolutely stunning meal at sage tonight, celebrating our daughter's 19th birthday. The food was amazing and front of house were very tentive, nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back very soon.”

“Fantastic food, first time visitor will return again. Attended on a Tuesday night at 5:30 was told by everyone to book a table walked in and it was completely empty and this didn't fill me with hope... Then a friendly server came over took our order talked us through the menu, ordered a starter and two burger, at first I didn't think there was much there but I struggled to finish the meal, I got the Spanish burger and it was fantastic. Will return want to try the flatbreads, also found out with notice that can cater for gluten allergy so good news for my son. A few reviews moaning about no menus but I quiet liked the menus on the chalkboard walls”

“Really enjoyed the food. Our party enjoyed everything we ate. The cheesecake was excellent. Having the menu up on the wall means having to stand in the middle aisle by people's tables to read it. They really need some paper menus. Seems like it has been a common complaint for other reviewers too and an easy fix. I would have given 5 stars, but the men's toilet area really needed a good deep clean.”
