About The Frying Pan
On High St in Grimsby, The Frying Pan is a fish and chips takeaway at number 77. The main dish is fish and chips with haddock in batter, and plaice is on the menu for those who want a different fish. A donna kebab is also available. Portions are large, so a small chips and a small peas with two fish feeds four, which suits families and sharing. A queue forms at busy times. The kitchen turns orders around quickly, including large group orders.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to The Frying Pan mainly for the haddock and chips, praised as consistently tasty, with crisp batter and huge portions. One reviewer says two fish with a small chips and a small peas easily feeds four. Close behind is the speed of the friendly staff, who move large group orders out quickly even on busy Fridays. Others mention a large donna kebab and a battered sausage that wasn't greasy, and a plaice that was fresh and worth a journey from elsewhere in Grimsby. Queues come up repeatedly, with one reviewer waiting an hour on Good Friday and still calling it the best chippie they had used. A couple of recent visits fell short. A long-time customer found the fish much smaller as prices crept up, likening it to a goldfish in haddock batter, and another threw away half their chips because they were hard, with the fish below the usual standard. Even so, families describe it as their go-to chippy, and one says the kids cleared their plates.

“I will say we have been coming to the frying pan for 10 plus years and tonight was the first time I have been disappointed as the fish must have been a gold fish dressed in haddock batter. Sorry guys but very disappointed prices go up fish getting smaller.”

“Stopped off today whilst delivering to a local lady and her daughter. Found by pure chance and have to admit they are some of the best fish and chips ive ever had and ive covered 90% of the uk now.”
