About Three Daws
Three Daws is a pub on Town Pier in Gravesend, set in a tavern building that dates to the 1400s. The main part of the pub has sloping floors, and a maze of rooms leads off it with a wide variety of seating. The kitchen works through a 20-dish menu with a Kent focus, including cockles and Gypsy Tart. A Sunday roast comes with a choice of beef or chicken, served with vegetables, roast potatoes and gravy. Ales sit alongside the British menu. A small dog area inside takes dogs, though they are not accepted in every room.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the history of the building, with wonky sloping floors, a maze of rooms and outdoor seating by the river. Food comes close behind, with the Sunday roast of beef or chicken with loads of veg and plenty of gravy, plus a Kent-focused menu of cockles and gypsy tart. Staff are mostly called friendly, and one family says their autistic son was catered for. Complaints are specific. One diner found the lamb and feta burger very salty, the scampi poor and the bread and butter pudding dry. Another found the chicken in a club sandwich a little dry and the bacon thick and fatty. One reviewer calls the staff a bit rude, with no please or thank you and a card machine simply handed over, and another could not use the small, full dog area inside. Still, the dry pudding came with ice cream and custard offered by staff.

“First visit yesterday and we were really impressed with the quality (and size!) of the food and the beautiful historic building with great views. What really stood out though was the service. Danny and his team are so hospitable and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Our Autistic son was catered for with the food and we were all made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be back, thanks for a great lunch!”

“Quirky pub with sloping floors and outside space to sit and drink and eat by the river. Food was good. Ordered club sandwich. Salad and bread good. Chicken a little dry and bacon too thick and fatty for me, prefer thin and crisp. More mayonnaise needed but plenty of sachets available so you can add more. Food 4/5. Friendly staff. Worth a visit for its quirkiness and proximal to the Thames.”

“This pub is a nice historical pub, with friendly people. The staff however are a bit rude and clearly don’t want to work there. You won’t get some of the hospitality basics, such as a smile, or please and thank you when you order and pay. You just get the card machine handed to you and is expected to pay. Ok-ish range of beverages, and not rip-off prices.”

“Whe stepping into this pub you are stepping into a slice of history. There has been a pub on this site since 1565 and it's been a building since 1460. Very cheery bar staff. Wide variety of seating options inside. Or sit outside and watch the world sail by. Popular for food.”
