Customer Review Summary

Sunday lunch is what reviewers return to most, especially the roast platter, with beef singled out as tender and a few calling it the best Sunday lunch they have had. Diners describe enormous portions, huge yorkshires, giant parsnips, roasties and a jug of gravy, and several leave too full for dessert. Close behind is the welcome: reviewers praise friendly service, including a table of 13 and a group of 24 handled without fuss, and one visitor singles out a 10oz ribeye cooked to perfection. The two vegetarians in one group were happy with their meal. Value comes up repeatedly, though one reviewer notes it is not the cheapest place and another mentions a surcharge on the beef, which they felt was well worth it. A few mention a beer garden at the back and good parking. Reviewers suggest reserving a table online because it is popular, though one party without a booking was squeezed in on a busy Saturday.

“Our first visit to this hidden gem tonight to celebrate my wife's Birthday. Food was excellent coupled with service with a smile. Not the cheapest place around but worth every single penny. We will definitely be back on a regular basis. Thank you for a very pleasant and enjoyable evening. John & Shirley Hawkins”

“Great village pub!! We had a lovely meal here on saturday, we didnt book but despite being busy they managed to squeeze us in. The food was beautiful homecooked food and the service was brilliant. Very reasonably priced and there's also a great selection of drinks. We've been in a couple of times now and the staff and local customers are all so friendly. Can't wait to call this pub our local!! Highly recommended”

“Had a great Sunday lunch here today, best I’ve had for a long time. Was delicious, everything very tasty, excellent presented and great price too. It came on a platter for 4 of us and absolutely stuffed. Would highly recommend it.”

“This pub is a real hidden gem. We reserved a table online which I would recommend doing as it’s a popular spot. The Sunday roast platter was enormous and although I hate to leave anything I couldn’t manage the rest of the veggies. Dessert was out of the question! We chose the beef which has a £2 surcharge but well worth it as it was tasty and perfectly tender. Roasties were to die for and the giant parsnips were perfectly cooked. Amazing jug of gravy and we couldn’t fault any of the meal, plus the service was great. Many thanks, we will be back.”

“I had the most enjoyable night here tonight, the food was excellent, I had the 10oz ribeye, cooked to perfection. Candy the barmaid was an absolute dream, she looked after not only my requirements but the way she interacted with all of the regulars made me realise what a kingpin she is to your organisation. I am sorry that I only got to stay one night, because I fell in love with the place and with Candy.”
