About Toni's Pizzeria

Toni's Pizzeria is a family-run pizza delivery business at 140 Fenwick Rd in Glasgow, with ten years of trading behind it. The kitchen makes Detroit-style pizza, a deep-pan style with thick dough. The menu includes named pizzas such as the Fungie, which is built around mushroom, and an Alfredo pizza, while a build-your-own option lets customers choose their own combination. Loaded fries come as a side, and chicken strips are served with garlic mayo. A Two for Tuesdays meal deal gives the week a set offer. The shop runs on a walk-in basis, with orders taken at a counter, and a queue can reach the door at busy times.

Customer Review Summary

The Detroit style pizza is what reviewers raise most, with several praising its thick, light and fluffy dough and its proper deep pan character. Close behind are the sides: loaded fries, chicken strips with garlic mayo, mozzarella fritti with a praised breadcrumb coating, and a spicy chicken mac. Other pizzas named include the Fungie mushroom, the Scotsman, the Alfredo and the Italian stallion. Diners also mention the 2 for Tuesdays deal, plus friendly counter staff and a friendly delivery driver, even when the shop is queued out the door. The complaints are specific. One takeaway diner found the chicken incinerated, the fries soggy, the carbonara a puddle of oil, a second pizza burnt and the royal margarita cold. Another says a requested burrata was missing and both pizzas were smaller than the size ordered. A third describes being left on a silent phone line, then arriving to find the order had never been put through. Still, one happy diner reports eating the leftover pizza for breakfast the next morning.

“Fantastic traditional pizza, one of the best in Glasgow! The Detroit style, for me, can’t be beat!”

“I’ve always had good experiences at Tony’s in the past, and the pizzas have consistently been excellent, which makes this visit even more disappointing. I called to place an order and was told to “hold on for a second,” only to be left on a silent line for over three minutes before I eventually hung up. When I called back, the young member of staff took my name and told me the pizza would be ready in 10 minutes. I timed my journey around collecting other family orders and arrived around 15 minutes later, only to discover my order hadn’t even been put through. I was then told they could make it “now,” but by that point it was too late as I had other food to collect. Mistakes happen, but the person taking orders clearly wasn’t ready to be managing the front desk on their own. The front-of-house experience is just as important as the food, and unfortunately on this occasion it completely let the business down.”

“WoW!! Just finished the most amazing pizza! One of, if not the best I’ve had! If you’re ever in and around the South side of Glasgow this is a must! Pizza’s were fresh and super tasty! The Detroit style pizza is amazing! Proper deep pan pizza that just isn’t sold enough in the country! Favours out of this world! The Scotsman being a true classic! Can’t wait to return and try some others! Thanks Toni’s!”

“Hands down the best Pizza we have ever had! Ordered for collection as we were coming a half an hour drive . Although it was queued out the door and so busy the staff making the pizzas took time to speak to us about our order and just general chat. The staff serving were well mannered considering the busyness of the place and were very helpful. Our order was made and piping hot on arrival. Had an Italian stallion , bbq sauce and cheese curly fries and a build your own chicken, pepperoni and bbq sauce Detroit style pizza. Having tried this style before in other places, sometimes it can be quite stodgy but the dough was so thick, light and fluffy honestly tasted amazing . We will definitely be back! As someone who never eats cold food the next day, I’ve just had pizza for breakfast 😂👌 . Can’t wait until next cheat day, was definitely worth the hour round trip 😉”

“Very disappointing take away from Toni’s. Ordered 2 pizzas, 1 carbonara, 1 chicken strips and 1 portion of loaded fries. The only thing that was edible was 1 of the pizzas. The rest was inedible. The chicken was incinerated. The fries were soggy. The carbonara was a puddle of oil with onions, something I’ve never seen in a carbonara. The second pizza was burnt within an inch of its life. The only redeeming element of the meal was the royal margarita pizza, however even this was average at best as it was cold. Won’t be returning.”
