About Nonna Said…
Nonna Said… is a pizza restaurant at 26 Candleriggs in Merchant City, Glasgow, open daily. The kitchen cooks thin, crispy pizzas in a large pizza oven, and the lasagne pizza sits alongside lasagne fritta, deep-fried pieces of lasagne sold as bites. Both come in vegan versions, and the vegan list also includes a philly cheesesteak and loaded fries. The sides menu adds currywurst smiley faces for the table. Drinks run to cocktails, flavour-based mocktails and craft beers, so the bar side of the menu stands apart from the food. A magician goes around the tables, which gives groups something to watch between courses.

Customer Review Summary
Lasagne in its various forms is what reviewers return to most, from the lasagna pizza to the deep fried lasagne bites and a vegan lasagne pizza, alongside a thin, crispy base with a rich tomato sauce. Close behind are the sides and vegan options: vegan salt and chilli non chicken loaded fries, a vegan philly cheesesteak, currywurst smiley faces, onion rings and chips, plus cocktails called really good. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, and one server is credited with explaining the vegetarian options. The complaints are specific. One reviewer says everything was loaded with red pepper, even the bread, and that the fried ravioli arrived in an alfredo sauce, so the meal went in the trash. Another found the food average. One found drink prices steep and was surprised by the charge for two pizzas and drinks, advising others to double check the receipt. The music is loud, and one diner found the room a little dark. Two reviewers single out a magician going around the tables who took them by surprise.

“Honestly the food was average but the magician going around was incredible.. the whole reason we stayed later than we should have. I have no idea how he done those tricks and I simply wish we had cash to tip him, incredible work and I am very impressed. Terry the magician could have his own show if he wished for it, I’d definitely go see it ❤️”

“Great wee venue, friendly staff who are quick to help. Can be a little pushy in getting your order in, but I reckon it just comes from trying to be helpful. Prices on drinks are a bit steep, and I wish I'd double checked my receipt because the charge for two pizzas and drinks was surprising, but unfortunately didn't think about it until I was halfway home. Definitely worth visiting and trying their awesome pizzas, just double check your drinks bill before leaving 🤣”

“Absolutely worst meal we have ever received. Everthing was loaded with red pepper even tge bread. Fried ravioli arrived as something in a alfrado sauce. Tossed everything in trash and ordered Olive Garden. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!”

“We got take out at nearly 9pm on the last night of TRNSMT (I know, I’m a terrible person, I’m sorry to the kitchen staff - I was desperate and won’t do this again!) but the food was 10/10, seasoned perfectly and delivered hot to our hotel. It is more expensive than other places around but it’s worth that wee bit more honestly, it tastes amazing. Even their chips and onion rings were class. Will for sure be back - at a decent hour so as not to stress your staff this time. Thanks so much!”

“Great experience again! Delicious food, helpful staff, and awesome vibes. We went for lunch and shared a pizza and vegan salt and chilli non chicken loaded fries. So so good! Highly recommend. Donna served us and was super friendly and really helpful explaining the vegetarian options to us.”
