About Ho’s Chinese

Ho's Chinese is a Chinese takeaway in Glasgow, on Rotherwood Ave at number 300. Orders are taken over the phone, and the shop opens in the evenings only, closing on Tuesdays. The salt & chilli chicken comes with a gluten-free breadcrumb option, which gives guests avoiding gluten a fried dish they can order. Satay dishes such as the chicken satay stir fry sit alongside noodle plates, including a katsu chow mein. The menu follows the familiar Chinese takeaway range, so a group can mix rice, noodle and chicken dishes in a single order.

“First order from here in a while. Missing item from order which o got rectified Wow this place has gone down hill. Combination satay was just like boiled meat in a watery soup. The chicken is definitely like frozen chicken cubes Beef in chowmein was so tough it was impossible to chew. Honestly the worst Chinese I have ever had. Majority of it went straight in the bin.”

“Not ordered from here in ages but used to love there food but tonight it was dreadful, cold food and far too spicy for a Chinese chicken curry the chicken was chopped into small squares like processed chicken and tasted awful had to pay £2.70 for a very small bag of crackers. All the dishes I ordered were awful and cold. Won’t order again food was stinking”

“Worst Chinese I’ve had in a while. There was hardly any chicken and the spare ribs and chicken were cheap cuts of meat. The satay sauce was watery. Nowadays a takeaway is a treat and this is anything but. What a disappointment. Only giving a one, as I can’t give zero.”

“I love the food I've been getting it for a couple of years now, I'm close to the shop because I'm staying with my brother at the moment. I've tried a lot of things and I think there good and what you expect from a takeaway and the staff are friendly, I just prefer music than film, I'm only around the corner from them but because it's a one way it costs £5 for delivery so I tend to Go in.”

“Best Chinese food we have had... all the staff were incredible - super friendly. The food tasted fresh and everything came packaged perfectly so that there was no mess. The sweet and sour, and beef with egg fried rice was phenomenal! The shop is super clean so you know the food will be on point! Will be coming back very soon 🙂”

Customer Review Summary

Salt and chilli dishes draw the most praise, with reviewers naming salt and chilli chicken, including a gluten free breadcrumb version, and salt and pepper chicken fried rice. Close behind are the sweet and sour, beef with egg fried rice, katsu chow mein and crispy onions for dipping, and several describe friendly staff and tidy packaging. One reviewer calls the satay sauce unmatched, yet two others found the satay watery. Opinion is sharply split. Several reviewers report disappointing orders: tough beef in the chowmein, chicken that looked like frozen cubes, a cold chicken curry, and a combination satay likened to boiled meat. One order arrived with mostly raw onions, a missing stir fry, and lamb ribs whose gamey flavour clashed with a sweet chilli sauce. Another reviewer found the salt and pepper mac n cheese bites freezing inside, and says the phone was hung up on when they called to report it.
