About Alessio's Café & Bistro
Alessio's Café & Bistro is a cafe and breakfast restaurant at 121 Cowgate in Glasgow, open daily. The menu runs to 35 dishes across breakfast and lunch, with cooked breakfasts, brioches and salads. Customer Review Summary
Coffee is what reviewers raise most, with several calling it the best they have had and one self-described coffee snob saying it is done right, and a pair praising the caramel lattes. Close behind are the ciabattas, with the cajun chicken and truffle versions singled out for flavour and freshly sliced chicken, alongside stuffed sandwiches, eggs with avocado, and a salad that one reviewer chose on a sunny day. Breakfast brioches and pastries to go also get mentioned. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and quick, including one who swapped a roll in for a bagel after the cafe ran out. The recurring complaints are practical: the cups could be bigger, portions could be more generous, and one reviewer noted a relatively long waiting list at a busy time. Another missed free WiFi. Reviewers also say the plates of healthy options for kids were emptied, and one found the tables and chairs cleaned thoroughly before being seated.

“It is an upmarket restaurant and cafe in Bishopbriggs. You do not necessarily need to book. The coffee is good. One minus point: they don't have their own free WiFi hot-spot.”

“I’d confidently say Allessio’s is the best daytime food you’ll find in and around the Lenzie/Kirkintilloch area. The staff are always friendly and genuinely helpful, which makes a big difference. Allessio's use quality produce and actually know how to cook well. I’m a bit of a coffee snob, and they get it right. The only downside? The cups could be bigger. If you’re after a great coffee and cake, a proper cooked breakfast, or a solid lunch, this is the place to go.”

“Lovely wee cafe with a beautifully simplistic interior & friendly staff that are quick and efficient. The Truffle and Cajun Ciabattas where absolutley beautiful. Full of flavour and plenty filling. Freshly sliced chicken was a bonus! The purple slaw on the side was also fresh and tasty. I was recommended to come by a friend and would definetley do the same.”

“Everything was really good , me & my partner thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. I got the Chefs special , cajun chicken ciabatta, which was really good & my partner got eggs avocado, which she said was delicious also. We also got 2 caramel lattes , which where also very enjoyable, my partner is usually very fussy when it comes to coffee & she really enjoyed the coffees here. Will definitely be back to try out some of the other dishes on the menu.”

“Quite busy cafe, although spacious there was a relatively long waiting list. Coffee was good, and food was decent but portions could have been more generous to be honest. They had also ran out of bagels, but staff were happy to replace bagel with roll, so we liked the flexibility. Staff were helpful and fast despite heavy workload at the time, and tables & chairs were cleaned thoroughly before we were seated.”
