Customer Review Summary

Diners most often single out the food, especially a menu where nearly everything can be made gluten free and vegan, with one vegan and gluten free pair calling all four of their choices excellent. The kebab salad gets a mention too, and several describe good portions and food arriving quickly. Close behind is the staff, called accommodating and lovely, particularly with big groups. One reviewer booked a large table at short notice, and the preorder they were asked for meant food arrived exactly when wanted. The pub is also a favourite for watching the Six Nations rugby, with a great atmosphere. Criticism is less frequent but specific. One longtime regular found the food mushy and overly salted, said their drinks sat on the bar while later arrivals were served, and reports feeling sick afterwards. Others say the back could use stronger lighting in daylight, the place needs a bit of paint, and mixer cans cost more than at some pubs. One birthday party had a box of doughnuts stored for them, then brought out with candles, a knife and napkins, without anyone asking.

“I had a couple of pints. It is a good local bar and popular with the locals. In a great location. Service was good. I would recommend for a drink or two. It also serves food.”

“I’ve been coming here for 6 years and as the popularity of the pub goes up the standard of food, service and atmosphere is sadly going down. Was reluctant to come in today but gave it another shot. Food was mushy, overly salted and extremely overpriced for what we ordered. Food smelt bad and no flavour. Management really need to steer away from what they think is trendy and serve well made, fresh homemade classics. We left early and felt very sick afterwards. The server took our drink orders then served 2 tables of customers that came in afterwards while our drinks sat on the bar for awhile. I’m not the type to complain but this place use to be my favourite. Not anymore.”

“First visit in many years and we had a blast. Reasonable price food (good portions and delicious) & drinks. Nice environment but a wee bit stronger lighting in the back would be good especially during daylight hours. Excellent staff service.”

“Our favourite pub in the southside to watch the rugby! Always a great atmosphere during the Six Nations. Staff are fantastic, always accommodating.”
