Customer Review Summary
Loaded fries come up most, from the caesar fries one reviewer heartily recommends to the Mapo Pork loaded fries and the tasty, piping hot Parmesan fries. Close behind are the fried chicken wings with good coleslaw, which one diner found massive in portion, and the hispi cabbage and sweetcorn fritter burger on the new menu, with several noting plenty of veggie and vegan options. Drinkers praise the beer and wine selection, though one calls the cocktails ok, and a few credit friendly staff who ran a very busy Saturday booking without seeming stressed. The complaints are specific. One reviewer describes being served a raw chicken burger, and another says the family left feeling sicky. Others found the bao soggy, the menu limited mostly to fried chicken, and the music loud from a poor soundsystem, which made socialising difficult. In the raw burger account, the chef first said it was fine as it was, and the waiter then removed it from the bill and brought extra chips free of charge.

“I was in Phillies this past Friday night for dinner and was served a raw chicken burger. I know things like this can happen and food can slip through inspection but I’m leaving a negative review for the reaction I got after sending burger back. The waiter took the burger off me and took it back to the kitchen and was pleasant enough. However he brought it back out to me and said that the chef had stated the burger was fine because he had probed it and it was thigh meat so can be pinkish. I think it is clear from the attached photo that the chicken was clearly not pink but instead raw. I insisted that I was not going to eat the burger and the waiter refunded it from the bill and brought out some extra chips free of charge. Whilst the waiter himself was fine about it, he wasn’t overly apologetic either and me and my mates were shocked that the chef sent the burger back out stating it was fine as was. I definitely would not eat here again after this experience. Just to note- I’ve been to Phillies many times over the last few years for drinks and always had a good time. I am only reviewing the food/ restaurant side of it.”

“I had a large booking here on the weekend and the service, food, drinks, atmosphere were all perfect. The team at Phillies are great, they looked after us so well. I was really impressed by how well the team ran a very busy Saturday shift without ever seeming stressed, and keeping on top of everything. The weekend menu is great! Would heartily recommend the caesar fries.”

“Chilled out decor, smelling lovely from some incense offering a delicious range of beers and wines. This place is connected to curious wines, and fits a similar vibe. Great for a romantic evening, or just to hang with friends. Food menu is simple but appealing, offering fancy chicken and chips. They cater to vegans as well! I’ll be back for some food next time as from the little bit I tasted, it showed some great potential!! Staff are also very friendly and happy to help with food and drinks. Table service and ordering from the bar is easy and quick. Great for the price! Cheers :)”

“Too dear for the food quality offered. Didn't completely enjoy the food here. Me and and partner went with the kids and we both left feeling quite sicky. Definitely wouldn't go back, so disappointed after all the hype.”
