About Darjeeling Heights
Darjeeling Heights is an Indian restaurant and bar at 335 High St in Gillingham, where dogs are welcome, so diners can bring a four-legged companion along for the meal. The menu follows traditional recipes, with curry as a recurring dish and some middle eastern cooking in the mix. Portions are big, with large chunks of meat. The dining room is old-style with basic decor, and the tables sit well apart from one another. A bar sits alongside the restaurant for drinks. The owner comes over to talk with diners at their tables.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the curries, with big portions and large chunks of meat, and one calls it the best curry they have had. The salmon starter and main also draw praise, and the owner coming over to talk to a group of six stood out. Complaints are sharper: food described as reheated or microwaved, frozen vegetables, a missing cashew garnish, and a surly lone waiter.

“This is a like an old style Indian restaurant. Basic decor but clean with plenty of space between tables. But what sets it apart from all the other local restaurants is the quality of food and price.”

“We went early Saturday evening and were the first dinners, excellent service and exquisite food. Very big portions with big chunks of meat, worth the price paid and I will certainly be back.”

“Salmon starter and main beautiful. Asked for shrimp starter without chilli didn't happen. Lucky was able to swop it with friend's starter.”

“Good event for family birthday today, was more than accommodating and made the day special - thankyou!”

“Had¹ a lovely experience here on Christmas Eve so we booked to take our family there in May. The waiter that took us in was surly and grumpy to the point of rudeness, unfortunately he was the only waiter on duty. They only had a couple of bottles of beer, the house Rosé was awful, the meals were described as containing fresh green vegetables - they were from a bag of frozen veg, the rice did not contain cashews as advertised and, having paid in cash, our change was not returned to us. We will definitely not be returning.”
