About The Watling Rasoi
The Watling Rasoi is a Bangladeshi restaurant on Watling Street in Chatham, run by a Bengali chef who prepares the kitchen's dishes, including the signature jalferzi. The menu covers South Asian and Indian cooking, and the kitchen can turn up the heat on request. A 5-course banquet night runs on Wednesdays and Sundays, drawing return visits for the slow-cooked lamb alongside the rest of the spread. Service runs across lunch and dinner, with takeaway available for those eating elsewhere. The team behind the counter take walk-ins throughout the week.

Customer Review Summary
Diners return most for the authenticity and heat of the South Asian and Bengali cooking, with several calling out extra-spicy dishes prepared to request, along with the Wednesday and Sunday banquet nights. The friendly, welcoming staff are repeatedly praised. A few flag higher prices, including takeaway water, and say the milder curries and desserts are worth skipping. One describes it as a strong Friday night spot for the jalferzi.

“Certain dishes are ok, spicier one's better than the mild dishes, the mild one's seem to be all based on a Korma type base. Wouldn't recommend the deserts tbf. Price was a little bit high for what it is.”

“Had a really love meal here with my family. Loved the food and how authentic it was. The Bengali chef was amazing and made our dishes extra spicy like we asked. Service is amazing as the staff are super friendly and informative. The restaurant itself provides a clean, comfortable place to eat. Would highly recommend this place!”
