  “⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ **2-Star Review** Absolutely shocking experience at The Willow Tree. The steak was tougher than a leather boot and, despite having a steak knife, I simply couldn’t cut through it. The mushrooms and onion rings were practically cremated, leaving the few chips on the plate as the only edible part of the meal. When the waitress came to collect our plates, she asked if everything had been okay. I explained that the steak was inedible and that I couldn’t even cut through it. Her response was simply, “Oh, sorry.” No offer of a replacement, no discount, and certainly no attempt to put things right. For the price of a steak meal, you would expect a reasonable standard of food and customer service. Unfortunately, neither was delivered. Very disappointing and an experience that certainly hasn’t encouraged us to return.”

  “our waitress/busser annie was polite, kind and attentive to our needs and modifications. her patience and understanding made our experience all the more comforting. the wait time was adequate, the food was lovely besides the fries portioning being reduced rather substantially, my husband and i enjoyed our overall experience together. plentiful of staff to meet all of our desires. notice board was rather insightful and provided all of the necessary details and resources. we were allocated a nice table right at the bar for easy access and convenience.”

  “Staff was very friendly. Very accommodating to our seats. Bar staff Very friendly too. Very quick service as there were quite a few customers at the bar. The table we sat at was clean and wiped down, as it was great. Also when we ordered food through the app, one lady approached the situation that they were out with one of the food, we ordered and gave us another option ... food arrived quickly and swiftly also still hot, as we been to many places where it be luke warm- bonus for them. Food was cooked to perfection, portion size was amazing, (yet filling), and the atmosphere was calming. I'd return there as we have had the best expirence as it was our third time going since December last year My recommendation is to book ahead as they can get days that they're busy. But well worth going.”

  “The service, admittedly, was lovely, the atmosphere was run down pub. But the food was appalling. Vast majority overcooked, badly seasoned and just thrown on the plates. Disgusting.”

  “Came for food on the weekend and it was lovely, we sat outside, it's got a lovely beer garden. I had fish and chips which were really tasty. Beth served us and she was very helpful. Would recommend!”

  “While visiting family in wales we decided to stop off at the willow tree while out for a afternoon walk. Beer garden was nice with plenty of umbrellas giving shade in the hot weather. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good. We have the chicken and beef/ lamb kebabs. The meat was tasty but the lack of salad was disappointing! Both garlic and ghost chilli sauce was good It’s definitely worth a visit just for the beer garden which Brynmawr is lacking.”

  “Been today Bank holiday Monday, hardly any staff, shown to a dirty table full of plates, dessert dishes etc, asked twice for the table to please be cleared, as we.had our little dog was with us we had prearranged a dog friendly area, and told to ask for table 17, we did that and was then told we were at the wrong table and were moved to another. When the meals eventually came, sausage and mash fine, ribs and pork fine, except the sauce I ordered never arrived,but the chilli dish I asked for was abysmal, half a plate of boiled rice, quarter plate of tortillas, one teaspoon of sour cream, one teaspoon of guacamole and one dessert spoon of chilli, I refused to accept it and changed my meal to sausage and mash which was nice, all in all not the best experience and we will not be rushing back there in the near future . Also lady on next table giving dirty looks at our small well behaved dog !!!!”

  “A busy Saturday lunchtime, the staff were all great, friendly and polite. We waited about 25 mins for food, which we didn’t mind. Food arrived looked fine until my husband tried to cut into the chicken n mushroom pie, the pastry was hard and filing barely warm. The gravy was awful so thick you stand a spoon in. My cheeseburger was lovely & tasty so no complaints there.”

  “Visited here occasionally over last few years when visiting my mother who lives in the area. Always has good quality food for the price. Staff are very friendly and attentive. I think they used to have some staffing issues at busy times, but this seem to have been rectified. On-tap guiness is very good, not always the case in all places. Food was delicious and served promptly. Good place for casual meal and drinks, recommended!”
