Customer Review Summary
The riverside setting draws the most comment, with reviewers sitting on the terrace or in the beer garden overlooking the Usk and the bridge, one with a lager and another describing a great, relaxing view. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, from a smile and a chat while taking orders at the bar to a pleasant server at a Sunday lunch. Others mention a great atmosphere, a good choice of drinks and a relaxed, old school pub feel. The main complaint is upkeep. The garden is called neglected, tatty, overgrown and covered in weeds, and one couple changed their minds about eating because of it. Another reviewer saw bins overflowing at Sunday lunchtime, though one notes that repair works have started after the beer garden was washed away. One reviewer says the owner told them to leave the car park and refused a coffee, despite signs advertising lunch and fresh coffee. Others mention a free pool table and watching the world cup.

“Sat by the river Usk with a lager. If weather had been a tad warmer would've stayed longer. Lovely place and the staff were warm and friendly.”

“Brilliant to see this place open after all nature has thrown at it. Totally understand how the beer garden was washed away and space lost but really no excuse for bins to be overflowing Sunday lunchtime. Just pray that this winter is kind and the Usk allows the pub to thrive once more.”

“Nice place, free pool table, relaxed old school pub vibe. Well worth a visit. ... pool table was free!”
- Jason Mountfield
“Called in whilst out for a bike ride as it was a lovely summers evening and the beer garden overlooking the river looked very inviting. It wasn't particularly busy as it was a Wed eventing. The bar staff greeted us with a smile and chatted with us as they took our order.”

“We had a drink at the outdoor terrace area. Very cute and sweet but the interiors and exteriors is in desperate need of some TLC. I noticed some works have already started so we are excited to see the upgrades. The decor asides, the terrace is a wonderful spot. Overlooking the bridge, a great and relaxing view.”
