Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the coffee and cake, with a latte (one with coconut milk and chestnut syrup) and a strawberry cake that one child went back to order a second slice of. Several describe a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and helpful, polite staff, and some call it a good spot to rest while shopping or walking by the lake. Food draws more mixed responses. A lukewarm, bland soup and an unwarmed baguette were called average, and one reviewer said the toasties don't need a gherkin on top. Price and portions are the main complaint: a jacket potato with barely a spoonful of beans and a slice of toast with mushy avocado, feta and whole tomatoes were both called too small for the cost. One reviewer found the coffee bitter, and another objected to the loud banging of the portafilter. One person queued, then learned at lunchtime that their choice had sold out, and wished a notice had been posted. One suggested a fixed table number system so servers can find tables faster.

“Mediocre but wouldn't expect much more in a shopping centre so it was a welcome place to sit and have a snack.”

“Queued for 15 minutes to be told what I wanted had sold out(it was only 12:30) why can't they put a notice up telling you what's not available? Went next door to Jamaica Blue. Would highly recommend.”

“My son and I went shopping today, and as you know, that can be quite exhausting 🙈, so we popped into Etto Cafe at Lakeside in Doncaster for a bit of a rest. It’s a lively café with a really friendly atmosphere. It’s a great place to stop off whilst shopping or taking a stroll by the lake here. You can have brunch here, enjoy a delicious latte and tuck into some lovely cake. My son liked the strawberry cake so much that he went back to order a second slice 🥰”
