Customer Review Summary
Breakfast draws the most praise, with one reviewer calling it the best in Doncaster and citing a large and small breakfast with teas and juices for just under £20. Close behind, several diners single out generous, freshly prepared meals: shredded pork sandwiches in large breadcakes with stuffing, apple sauce, and gravy, and a beef burger with a double patty on a fresh bun. Many also mention the quirky, cosy interior covered in hundreds of images, including a fake mouse hole with a for sale sign. Under new ownership, most describe friendly, helpful staff and one recalls a server swapping an ingredient without issue. However, one long-time customer reports a sharp decline since the change of hands, describing curt service, an order-taker who frequently gets things wrong or forgets items, lower food quality, and higher prices, and says they will no longer return. Several others encourage supporting the new owners, and multiple reviewers note they found the cafe by accident and plan to return.

“Went here today for the first time, the staff were amazing and the food lived up to that great service. When I accidentally forgot to swap my black pudding for another ingredient they still did the swap for me which was very kind. I will definitely be back here when I’m in the area.”

“We stopped off at The Arkle for a bite to eat on the way to N Yorks, and loved it. Delicious food, generous portions (see our pic), very good value, and lovely staff. It's under new ownership, so go support them!”

“I've been visiting this cafe ever since it opened and the wife and I had always enjoyed the place, the food was always lovely, atmosphere was always up beat and lively and the service you could never fault, however since it has had new owners you can tell there has been very big changes and not for the better in our eyes, the service has gone from they couldn't do enough for you, to OH right I guess I better stop talking and serve you, the lad that takes your orders struggles to get anything right or completely forgets things (no names as it would not be fair) also the quality of the food has become poor but prices have gone through the roof, you can feel its just about the money now and not about the customers making them feel like part of a family, for these reasons we will no longer eat here again.”

“I've been yesterday for the first time, small but cosy inside, definitely interesting with hundreds of images hanging everywhere, your eyes will not be bored 😅 . I ate a beef burger, fresh bun, double patty, excellent taste, recommend 100%. Nice and quiet area, great location, i'll be back soon.”

“This was by far the best cafe I have ever eaten at. Service was fantastic and the food was just wow. It was very tasty and price was well worth it. Even the drinks were very good. Highly recommend and can't wait to visit again.”
