About Lemon Tree Tea Rooms
Lemon Tree Tea Rooms is a cafe in Epworth, set within a garden centre. The format is self-service, with hot meals and snacks brought to the table after ordering at the counter, and a queue there is common at busier times. The menu runs from paninis and jacket potatoes to tray pie with suet crust pastry, meat and potato pie, and veg lasagne, alongside a wide selection of cakes. Jacket potatoes come without a side salad by default, with salad available at extra cost. The entrance is step-free and wheelchair accessible, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Outdoor seating gives an option for eating outside, though the area is fenced off and not accessible to dogs. It opens daily through the daytime only, and no booking is needed, visitors simply walk in.

Customer Review Summary
Complaints are just as specific and recur. Several reviewers describe staff chatting among themselves while a queue grew, with food sitting on a tray and arriving less than hot, and one calls the staff surly. One reviewer found the roast potatoes with a tray pie dried out and hard, and the carrots past their best. Three in one group were disappointed by jacket potatoes served without the salad that comes with paninis, which now costs extra. Two reviewers say dogs are not welcome, one noting a fence panel blocking the outside area, and another found no vegetarian breakfast. One reviewer was glad a young staff member brought a water bowl out for their dog.

“There is no atmosphere in this place (a big t of background music might help). This is the only place that we’ve visited in months that does not offer a vegetarian breakfast. This is one of the very few garden centres that isn’t dog friendly. Don’t think we’ll be back…..”

“We called in for lunch yesterday. Paninis were lovely , but 3 of our group were disappointed with the jacket potatoes . We were served salad with paninis but none with jacket potatoes, didn't realise there was an extra charge for salad with them now . It's a while since we had a jacket potato there but they were always served with a lovely side salad . Don't know why they've changed it, would be an expensive if paying for side salad separately.”

“We visited Lemon Tree recently with our dog and were aware we would need to sit outside. However, the owner has put a fence panel in so you can't get in anyway. When we saw the younger staff members they were lovely and did their best to help. One young lady brought a water bowl out for the dog. We were told the owner doesn't want dogs on the premises and this is obvious. It wouldn't hurt to have easy access to the outside area so people can enjoy a coffee stop whilst out walking. It's a pity as we like the food here but don't feel we will be going back.”

“Went for the tray pie made with suet crust pastry and chose roast potatoes rather than chips. A wrong choice as we had the dregs of the roasters which had been sat there drying out. They had rhino skin! No amount of gravy would allow the sharpest of knives to penetrative. The carrots had seen better days and the plate was massive. A very long drive for disappointment.”
