About The Old Ford Inn
The Old Ford Inn is a pub in Brecon with views over the Brecon Beacons and the surrounding countryside, and it has rooms for overnight stays. The building holds both a pub and a restaurant, so food and drink are served in one place. The kitchen cooks a Sunday roast, and the bar pours local beer. Guests who book a room can use it as a base for hikes in the hills nearby.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the generous portions of pub food, with the rib-eye steak, the gammon, and a chicken in mushroom sauce singled out, and a Sunday roast praised for its copious gravy and an extra gravy boat. Close behind are the views of the Beacons, described as stunning even on a rainy day, and a friendly welcome from the staff and landlady. Several mention the good parking. A choir group describes the pub staying open for their party of 14, with every meal freshly cooked and delivered together. The caveats are specific. One overnight guest found no hand soap, a broken shower holder and a cold shower, and was told there would be no breakfast because of Sunday roast prep. Another found the rooms clean but a little dated. A third reviewer liked the chilli con carne but found the mushroom pasta stodgy, and one noted that dogs are not allowed inside. Several say they plan to return, and one choir has already booked a return visit.

“Nice little pub and very helpful young lady serving. Most of the food was OK (masses of it). The chilli con carne was lovely, but the mushroom pasta was stodgy and not very pleasant - I think the quality varies from dish to dish. The prices were very good, but I think smaller portions, and more attention to the quality and presentation of some of the dishes is called for. Having said that I think the locals like the place, so maybe we are a bit too fussy!!”

“We booked to stay the night here. The location was lovely with gorgeous views. We were met with an average welcome and the manager was there straight away with his card machine asking for payment. We had only just walked in! The room was nice and cosy with amazing views but unfortunately there were some issues. - No hand soap in bathroom (basic hygiene) - Only toiletries provided was a tiny bottle of conditioner! - No loo roll holder - No towel holder - Shower holder was broken and shower was arctic cold despite running it for 15 mins to try and warm up The room was clean though with a comfy bed Meal was nice in the evening with polite waitresses serving. When I asked about breakfast the next day, we were told that there wouldn't be any due to Sunday roast prep. This place is advertised as a B&B!!!!! When we left, the owners were just sat on a step smoking away not looking particularly busy with prepping roasts. This place has some positives but overall needs some improving with managers attitude and basic bits in bedrooms.”

“Decided to call here for food and a drink after a walk down the promenade in Brecon. Excellent food we had the chicken in a mushroom sauce. It was a very hot sunny day so sat outside under the brolley as dogs are not allowed inside which didn’t matter. Anybody in the Brecon area give this little gem a visit you definitely won’t be disappointed!”

“First time visit to this friendly place for Sunday lunch. Generous portions and my pleasure for gallons of gravy please was met with copious amount on the plate plus an extra gravy boat (as opposed to a thimble!) For the gravy alone they get brownie points. Lovely meal ..will be back. (Good parking too for those folk that can't walk far and absolutely super views!)”

“We’ve stayed in this historic and old inn for one night. Perfect location for any hike in the Beacon Brecon. Amazing view on the countryside and peaks.”
