About Feather Bed Cottage B&B

Feather Bed Cottage B&B sits on Westwood Heath Rd in Coventry, within walking distance of Warwick University. Guests use their own private entrance, with keys left in advance rather than a staffed reception. Rooms come with private en-suite bathrooms and a coffee machine. Continental breakfast is bagged and left outside the door at a time agreed with guests, rather than served in a communal dining room. Free parking is available on site. Dogs are welcome, so travelling with a pet does not rule the place out. It opens daily, and reservations are recommended ahead of a stay.

Customer Review Summary

The recurring complaint is soundproofing, with multiple guests noting paper-thin walls and hearing neighbors clearly, and a couple recommending ear plugs for light sleepers. Uncomfortable, overly firm pillows come up more than once too, with one guest sleeping without any. One reviewer describes a more serious lapse, arriving to find no reception, their name missing from the door instructions, no phone signal to reach the host, and a cold room because the heating and boiler weren't on at arrival, leading to a stressful late-night resolution by text. Another found the small room not worth the price for what amounted to a place to sleep. Still, several say they'd book again, and one describes the bagged breakfast being left at the exact time they'd requested.

“Just a place to sleep close to the university. No place to stay or enjoy. Room was very small, and breakfast was a bag “served” in the room. No space in the room to properly eat. People very friendly! I believe 120£ is too much for this.”

“Admittedly, I had a difficult time. Here are things which could be improved. Good things first: Breakfast, great! Clever idea to bring it to the room, perfectly on time and tasty. The room and bathroom also felt clean. Definitely cleaner than chain hotels. Improvements: The lack of a reception and additional safety nets for check-in lead to further problems when a mistake occurred. I arrived to see names of guests on the front door with instructions for keys to collect whilst the host was out, but as my employer booked it, my name was no where to been scene. I had no signal or data and struggled for 25 minutes before finally getting through to the B&B number. It was sorted in the end, but I was walking in the rain trying to get any signal in order to ring and I was incredibly stressed. Indication and access to onsite WiFi in case of emergency would have sorted the issue easier. Heating was good when it was on but it seemed to switch off at night and I woke at 3am from the cold. The boiler also wasn't on at arrival, so my first hour in the room was also cold. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but it did lead to more stress and worry as I write this in chilly December. Pillows are very thick and hard. I ended up sleeping really badly and my neck started was hurting. I'd suggest adding soft pillows or at least cushions to the room. The host was nice about letting me text them, but I felt intrusive. I resorted to text as the main phone often went to voicemail and I could hear in my tone of voice that I wasn't hiding my stress well. I think if the main phone had a higher success rate for communication my experience would have been better.”

“Lots of positives regarding staying in this B&B. I received a friendly welcome from the owner and the room had a cool decor. A wide selection of drinks were available in the room and a breakfast was provided to outside my room in the morning. As previous reviews have mentioned - the walls are paper thin and so I could hear everything in the room next to and below me through out my stay. I appreciate this is not something that is easy fixable! The pillows were uncomfortable (also mentioned in previous reviews) so I slept without! Despite this I would still recommend this place, just maybe bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper?!”

“The best accommodation you can get in Warwick. I stayed in Radcliffe and this is so much better. You have all the amenities, quiet, nature and it’s just a 5-minutes walk from WBS and the Varsity. Perfect for families!”
  • Busisani Ndlovu
“The owner was so pleasant and friendly. I only spent a night there, but will definitely spend more in future. The room was modern, clean and cozy! It was so cute and had everything I needed. It honestly felt like a home away from home. The bed was so comfortable too and I had a lovely view to boot! Breakfast was delicious, fresh and so filling! Absolutely loved it!”
