About Miam Miam
On Lawton St in Congleton, Miam Miam is a restaurant where a single chef cooks every dish on a small plates menu. The dishes draw on cooking from around the world, and the menu changes often. Vegetarian and vegan options and platters sit alongside the other plates. The chef also runs a cookery school, with Asian and Mediterranean themed sessions, and attendees eat the food they help prepare. That gives the classes a meal at the end as well as a lesson. The restaurant occupies an old building on a side street, at number 26a.

Customer Review Summary
Small plates cooked by a single chef are the main draw, with reviewers praising the range of dishes from around the world and a menu that changes often. Named standouts include shitake mushroom tacos, corn ribs and borek on the vegetarian side, and lobster, coquilles st jacques and prawns and chorizo for seafood lovers, plus a trio of dips with bread. Vegetarian diners describe the choices as innovative, and one group ordered vegan and vegetarian platters for a birthday lunch. Close behind are the cookery classes, where attendees describe making Vietnamese spring rolls, stuffed belly pork dumplings and Mediterranean dishes, then eating everything they cooked, with a glass of Prosecco to start. Service is called friendly and not overbearing, and the room is described as cosy and welcoming. One reviewer found it quiet, with few tables busy over the holiday period, and marked the atmosphere down for it. Several mention the chef coming out to chat at the end of the meal, once bringing a toddler some grissini.

“From the minutes you walk in to Miam Miam the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Lovely smell and a beautiful old building. It is very clear from the menu and from the taste of the food that this establishment has been curated by a food lover with love. Every dish is different and still manages to authentically and thoughtfully reflect its background. It was a pleasure to speak with the chef at the end of the meal and to learn that the menu changes often. Excited to come back and try some more!”

“I actually went on a cooking class with an Asian theme. Have to say it was Excellent!! Chef had four of us in the group. Glass of Prosecco to start, always a good sign! Shown how to prepare food for a variety of dishes, Vietnamese spring rolls, stuffed belly pork dumplings, deep fried prawns, Asian flat breads and various dips, the sweet and sour one being fabulous and I don’t usually touch anything sweet and sour!!!! Together with Katsu Chicken.Enrique the Chef was entertaining and a font of interesting knowledge. Got to eat all the food we helped to prepare. Delicious!!! Would throughly recommend this class! Going to book in for the next one! Thank you so much!”

“So so good. Such a wide variety of small plates with dishes from all over the world. All handled by one chef. We loved every single dish. Add on the friendly service and the chef coming to meet us at the end, and I genuinely can’t think of anything else I’d ask for. Also, the bill was a pleasant surprise after 2 bottles of wine and 9 or so plates.”

“Unable to find anywhere else in Congleton due to a jazz festival, we tried a drop here. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us in about 30 minutes. We enjoyed a glorious small plates selection with enchanting drinks to match. Staff and the owner were ever helpful and everything you’d expect from excellent customer care. We’re definitely be back. Thank you so much a true five star experience.”

“This is a fabulous place. Tucked away in a side st. The food was delicious, every mouthful. We had a real mix. We ordered 5 between us. The chef and his staff were really lovely. So friendly and knowledgeable. Only 4 star for atmosphere as inly few tables busy, small restaurant but it's holiday time. Best place for miles around”
