  “I want to express deep gratitude to the whole team who was working and stayed open for our large group of parents and hungry kids who had had a very long day of acrobatic, gymnastics training, having travelled all the way from Manchester very early in the morning and trained well into the evening. We sincerely appreciate how the team went out of their way to accommodate us, even when we were late and kept them well after closing, and even more so when the team helped us when we were having trouble the app. Whilst the food was great, I really want to ensure the team know that their kindness and patience was recognised and they are a credit to the Colchester team. Will happily visit again, thanks”

  “We went for dinner on the 28th June, a group of 5 of us. We had Yasmine for our server; she was fantastic. Unfortunately we are a very chatty group so tend to forget to look at the menu to decide straight away but she didn’t rush us at all, she was so polite about it and came back when we asked her over and were ready to order. She even took drink orders for two who were late and as soon as they sat down she brought them straight over, so the ice wouldn’t melt whilst we were waiting. She gave us recommendations too, which were great. She was just great and made us all feel welcome straight away and all throughout the meal! We do go to pizza express a lot just on various places and have never had a bad experience, the food was great as always!”

  “We visited for my mother in laws birthday and Lisa was an absolute ANGEL!! She was so warm and welcoming. Lisa joined in singing happy birthday and made the birthday lunch so special. Nothing was too much, she was very attentive and the food and service was great. 100/10 will be coming again. I am also dairy free and Lisa made it very easy and the restaurant is very accommodating.”

  “I regularly bring my teenage son who has ASD for lunch. We have got to know Lisa. She has always made us feel so welcome and comfortable here! He asks to come because of how warm and accommodating Lisa is towards him. We love our visits here. Food is great and the service is so attentive. We have never had to wait very long but also, never feel rushed. I have been coming here for years and the service only gets better. This is also the only place I feel comfortable eating alone. Staff are all lovely. Highly recommend a visit!”

  “I called in during the week to reserve for today, Saturday. Lisa took my booking. I walked in & spoke with Lisa, explaining that my partner was delayed. I was reassured & invited to our table + asked about drink. My partner finally arrived. Our order was taken by Lisa. We both enjoyed our starters. When Lisa went on her break she explained that her colleague(s) would look after us. My partner's main course was replaced as my partner didn't like the taste of honey. The colleague was very friendly & helpful. The service was excellent!! We both enjoyed our food. This was our first visit at the restaurant. Thank-you Lisa & colleagues for making today's lunch at Colchester Pizza Express such a positive experience”

  “We went to Pizza Express for a catch up and dinner before the cinema and had a great experience, we both really enjoyed our meal here. The service was fairly good, the waitress was accommodating on our arrival to seat us at a different table from the one initially offered. At the end of our meal the manager was friendly and really helpful in applying my £10 e-gift card. To drink we ordered a Two for £10 Aperol Spritz, it was really good that this offer was available. We were charged the full price on the initial receipt that was printed, however this was quickly amended to the offer price at our request. To eat we ordered Calamari and Dough Balls ‘PizzaExpress’ to start and a pizza for our main courses. My friend ordered an American Classic Pizza and myself a La Reine Large Classic Pizza with an added Burrata. The Calamari was nice and came with a Caesar dressing and lemon though not the parsley mentioned on the menu. The calamari rings had breadcrumbs around them and would have been more enjoyable with a lighter, tempura batter. The La Reine Large Classic Pizza with an added Burrata was delicious and exceeded the expectations I had before we arrived, largely due to the size upgrade as the standard Classic seems a little small. This was even nicer with garlic oil, I was also offered chilli oil by our waitress. The burrata really enhanced the pizza as well. The only improvement would have been to have more olives and a slightly larger plate to fit the pizza. The only slight downside was the price of my pizza, this totalled £24.20 as the initial price was £15.75 with an additional £4.95 to upgrade to large and an extra £3.50 for the added burrata. The décor in the restaurant was nice, green leafy decorations had been added to the light fittings overhead which gave a really nice feel. The bathroom was suitably clean and serviced when I used it at the start of the meal. We really enjoyed our visit here and I plan to return to try more of their menu.”
