What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention carrot cake, baklava, turkish pastries and pies and iced coffee.
Customer Review Summary
Carrot cake is the most repeated draw, with three reviewers calling it moist, very good, or the most delicious they have ever had. Baklava comes close behind, alongside Turkish pastries such as spinach and cheese pies, a cheese and olive pastry, and a Turkish flat bread breakfast. One reviewer adds that the orange polenta cake is gluten free. Coffee draws mixed reactions. Reviewers praise a flat white as spot on, strong and hot coffee, and a proper iced coffee, while one found the coffee burned, though the iced mocha was nice. Staff are described as friendly, with food brought to the table and personal service. Several mention the quiet atmosphere and wall sockets for charging laptops and phones, though one reviewer felt it was so quiet that background music would lift the atmosphere. A ham and cheese panini arrived with a small side salad, and its cherry tomatoes stood out.

“Such a gorgeous little gem hidden away from the High St. The carrot cake was the most delicious carrot cake I’ve (ever) had and the baklava was also wonderful. Very friendly staff, will definitely be back to try the coffee as well.”

“What a lovely little hidden gem! Off a quiet passageway, opposite Fenwicks, this cafe offers a lovely range of hot and cold drinks (dairy free milks available) - alongside cakes, snacks and Turkish specialities. Lovely staff, and a few outdoor seats in the sunshine too! Highly recommend - particularly the orange polenta cake, which is also gluten free!”

“Lovely hidden gem just off the high street - went here with a friend to eat lunch and study, and she loved the iced coffee. Apparently it was proper iced coffee, not just coffee with ice in it: I don't know the difference, but she seemed pleased. I had a cheese and olive pastry and loved it :) There's also sockets on the walls so you can charge your laptop or phone easily :) also super quiet!!”

“Finally ! The only place on the high street that serves strong and hot coffee ! Carrot cake was so moist too , love this spot , new favourite”

“Visited whilst on a trip to Colchester shopping for guitars. Great little cafe right off of the high street. I had the Turkish pastry (like a cross between a croissant and a bagel) with a coffee for breakfast with apricot jam and it was delicious. Thoroughly recommended.”
