About The Escapist

The Escapist is a micropub in Chichester, at 9 Crane St, serving a rotating selection of local craft keg beers. The taps run keg only, with no cask, and the selection changes over time. The pub is independent and not tied to a brand, so the beer list is its own. It is a small place, built around the beer rather than a large menu of other drinks. Dogs are welcome.

“Top selection of local craft beers, nice atmosphere, friendly helpful service and tips on good places to eat locally. What's not to like ☺️”
  • Tj Jones
“One of the best places in Chichester for craft beer! Staff friendly and attentive. They also have a small takeaway fridge and seats outside too”
  • M. T. Blake
“Beer snobs unite! Come here if you want a good selection and are tired of all the brand-tied pubs and same stuff you find everywhere.”
  • Liam Burford
“2026 update. Still a fab craft beer bar. Two watch outs though. No cask (fair enough) and high prices. I paid less for similar in central London. The other craft keg bar in Chichester knocks a third off for similar beers. Granted Escapist is more adventurous (please don't stop this!) but for me they just need to tone down the prices a bit. ***One of a few (two?!) micropubs/ brewers in Chi. Understated and yet knows its stuff. Nicely comfortable.”
  • Rich Rose (aka Rosie)
“Small place. Had a few craft beers here. Beer is kept well. Sat outside in the sun.”
