About Graze

Graze is a cafe on Market St in Chesterfield, serving breakfast and lunch across a 30 item menu. Eggs Benedict and a Traditional Breakfast sit alongside a Three Item Breakfast Cob and Scrambled Eggs on Toast, with Teacakes, Toast or Crumpets for lighter orders. A specials board adds home cooked dishes such as corned beef hash and sausage hash, and a Creamy Leek and Chicken pie is made in house. Jacket potatoes come with butter or loaded toppings, baguettes are served with a side salad, and soup is offered with bread and butter. Orders are placed at the counter, with staff bringing food to the table. Beyond the cafe, Graze runs a catering side for parties, weddings and other events of 40 or more guests. It opens Monday to Saturday during the day and stays closed on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary

Catering for private parties and events emerges as the strongest draw, with reviewers praising large spreads for weddings and birthday parties as fresh, plentiful, and good value, and staff described as looking after guests attentively. Breakfast cobs and jacket potatoes also draw specific praise, with one reviewer calling the jacket potato crispy outside and fluffy inside, and another highlighting two breakfast cobs with tea or coffee for ten pounds. The specials board gets repeat mentions too, particularly the corned beef hash and sausage hash. A significant recurring problem involves event bookings: two reviewers describe having their booking cancelled or lost, in one case the day before a baby shower with a refund arriving too late to reschedule, and another reporting a booking cancelled when a larger party came in later. One reviewer also reports a hair in their food alongside a vegetable soup they found overly salty. Despite this, several describe returning repeatedly for the home cooked meals and friendly service from named staff members.

“I had a Creamy Leek & Chicken pie to takeaway and it was out of this world! Lots of filling and 100% homemade, just what you need when the weather is gloomy like this. Rachel, the new manager was very welcoming and friendly. Definitely refreshing to visit somewhere so present in clay cross that isn’t part of a chain.”

“A big thank you. We called at Graze this afternoon, 19th June. The lady, who was on her own serving us, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. It was near to closing time but after seeing my dad walk slowly across the road to the cafe, she served us in a friendly and attentive manner. The cake and scones were really lovely. The lady is a credit to the team. 30/12/25 We've been back to Graze several times and always enjoy the home cooked meals. The specials board has some lovely food . The corned beef hash and sausage hash are amazing ! Staff are always welcoming and friendly, thank you.”

“Don't book a special event here, if a bigger booking comes along after you they will cancel your booking at short notice so they can make more money. No thought for the people they're letting down.”

“We paid to hire Graze for a baby shower, only to discover the day before that there was apparently no record of my booking in the diary when I went in to check booking as for two days prior I hadn’t had a response to my messages. When i approached a member of staff in the afternoon to confirm booking (she seemed lovely and tried helping), she checked diary then asked the owners mother who was working there about it as it wasn’t in the diary and she was extremely rude and dismissive, simply stating “there’s no booking” and “I’m in middle of service” offering no apology or solution. This response was not only unhelpful but also highly unprofessional. Simply a “can you come back at closing to sort this out please, I’m sorry about this” would’ve been sufficient. Although I did receive a refund the following day along with an excuse of “It was a mistake of dates, apparently booked 30th November” at a totally different time than arranged also. More like was added into the diary that morning for an excuse to messing up the baby shower. So as was given money back on the day it was meant to be the baby shower it was far too late to make alternative arrangements, effectively ruining the baby shower that we had spent time and money planning! Had purchased helium balloons and cakes also, and now we’ve had to reschedule with everyone for a much later date.”

“2 breakfast cobs packed with 3 ingredients each (of your choice!) and 2 big mugs of tea or coffee came to £10 which is just fabulous value considering it’s served with a smile by Stacey in lovely surroundings! Thank you ❤️”
