Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply on Bamboo Garden, and portion size is the most repeated complaint. Several describe small portions, including one who says the chips, rice and noodles trays came barely filled and the curry sauce was thick, gloopy and a little salty, while another praises great portion sizes and good value. Those who liked it point to tasty food, a wide menu selection and quick, friendly service on the phone and in person. One highlights a large pancake roll that seemed fresh and homemade, and a visiting rugby fan calls it possibly the best Chinese takeaway food they have tasted. The harsher reviews call the food tasteless, bland, slodgy and grey, with one saying they could not finish it. Another says the Special Chow Mein was full of large chunks of mushroom and suspects the chef has changed. A reviewer found the bbq sauce very salty and the prepackaged prawn crackers cold, and a few remark that no free prawn crackers came with their order, even one over £30.

“I am sorry to say, but it was the worst Chinese take away ever had. It was grey and tasteless, we couldn't even eat it. We wouldn't order again.”

“Honestly where to start!!! First time here and spend over £30 and no complimentary prawn crackers. Food was nice to be fair but portions were the worst we have ever witnessed. Chips didn’t go between two people as there were about 10 chips each “no exaggeration” rice portions shocking and small trays that were not full or even close and same with the Noodles 🤦🏼♂️ curry sauce was nice “little salty” but really thick and gloopy. For over £30 order me and the wife finished it and honestly always have a full tub left over for the next day. How these are still in business with their shocking portion sizes I’ll never know and to not give prawn crackers with an order of £31 is even worst. You’d think you’d try to fill up your customers more offering prawn crackers on the house 🙄 We will NOT be returning again that’s for sure as we live in Whitchurch and traveled to try this place. I praise where credit is due and my review is absolutely bang on!!”

“Terrible food slodgy and bland no flavour in any of it”

“Very disappointing meal, Special Chow Mein should be called Mushroom Chow Mein, why so many large chunks of mushrooms? I am a keen cook, I cook pretty good Asian food but normally I find a good old fashioned Chinese takeaway unbeatable. Sadly this was not as good as I could make for home at a fraction of the cost. I remember having a nice meal from here a couple of years ago, I think they must have changed the chef.”

“Good food but bad portions on some items on the menu, would go again but could improve portions. Great staff”
