  “​I went in expecting a cozy cafe experience and left with a lighter bank account, a heavier heart, and a newfound appreciation for meal deals. ​Let's start with the food, calling it "mediocre" would be a generous act of charity. For the prices they charge, I expected the food and ingredients to be fresh at least, in turn, when it actually arrived at my table ( the wait was so long I have seen glaciers move with a more aggressive sense of speed) I was met only with what I believe is a triumph of the imagination. The bread tasted like it had been aging for the last business quarter, the flavour of cardboard and the texture of memory foam. Then, I’d like to give a special shoutout to the manager, whose warm hospitality really set the atmosphere for the whole meal. It takes true dedication to greet paying customers with the exact facial expression of someone who just stepped on something unpleasant on the sidewalk. I was almost convinced her hostile eye-roll was a signature menu item. ​The staff themselves were doing their absolute best, and honestly, they deserve a medal (or at least a witness protection program) for dealing with it every day. The only saving grace in this whole ordeal was the coffee that was good, which turns out to be a disappointment because it means I have no excuse to complain about it. If you love your overpriced food served with a side of second-hand embarrassment and toxic workplace culture, this is the spot for you.”

  “As you don’t answer emails perhaps you can explain why your signage says breakfast items are available until 11.30am yet each time I have visited Cambridge Cafe they are removed at 11.10am when I ask for them the staff say they have none, three visits now I have told them I have just seen trays of items taken into kitchen they reluctantly go and get them , once I had to stand my ground until another staff member as queue was building up stepped in and said they would be supplied. Lunch is advertised from 11.30am so lunch items should surely be brought out around 11.25”

  “I've twice had a disappointing experience at Ori now. The most recent (today) one: my friend and I had a latte and hot chocolate, both with oat milk. After sitting down and looking at the receipt, I realised that the price we paid (£4.55 and £4.65) didn't match the advertised prices (£4.10 and £4.20). Nowhere on the sign did it say that milk alternatives cost extra, so I checked with the staff at the till. The (I assume) manager got quite snappy, explaining that milk alternatives cost extra and that's the same in a lot of places. I replied that while some places still charge extra for milk alternatives (luckily many don't), this should be visible on the menu/ sign. The receipt also didn't list the surcharge for oat milk, just the total per drink. We argued back and forth a bit until she begrudgingly refunded the money. The other time I had lunch there with my small children. One of them needed the loo, so we had to leave our table mid meal. I asked staff if it was okay to leave our plates out as we would be returning. Of course everything had been cleared when we got back. Staff retrieved it from the kitchen after a discussion. I do like the food and drink there, but will not return.”

  “Naomi took great care of the 3 of us, 2 of whom are GF. Warm, welcoming, spotlessly clean & comfortable. The decor made us feel like we're having a special lunch. Delicious homemade soup. Full on a Monday.”

  “Nice Place We got a 20% discount from the John Lewis department store therefore entered this cafe. Food would be heated if customers request. The drinks and food are slightly more expensive than the Espresso Bar upstairs. It is a European style cafe. While the Espresso Bar upstairs is more British style. Both Ori Caffe and Espresso Bar are serving good quality food with good environment. So it depends on your budget.”

  “Sandwich filling changes from time to time. Chicken and mango wrap is tasty. The ripe mango is juicy and there is much chicken. The chili jam isn’t too sweet. The flatbread is lightly crunchy. Very busy around noon. Waiting time can be quite long for a toasted sandwich/wrap. Food gets cold by the time it reaches me. Staff are friendly. No one cleans the table though.”

  “Perfect for a quick breakfast - the bacon brioche is delicious. They also have milk alternatives for drinks. Bright, spacious and opens earlier than the cafe on the higher floor.”

  “I come here regularly and the staff are always so charming. They really do a wonderful job. Always a beautiful selection of sandwiches and pastries and the service is efficient. Plenty of seating and everything is always clean.”

  “The best ‘Department Store Cafe’ there is! Ori Cafè offer great service and super tasty food! Me and my partner are regulars on weekends for a bite to eat and a sweet treat! The staff are always extremely welcoming and the food is always very scrumptious!”

  “I don’t know what is going on but… £10 for these tiny Italian pastries and 2 teas. So basically £10 for air on a plate and some hot water. The lady that served me wasn’t keen on being there and barely lifted her gaze to look at me whilst processing on the till. There were larger pieces in the jar but our luck was to get these two. Pastries were lacking in taste but the loose camomile tea and green tea were delicious. Unfortunately the green tea wasn’t made with the right temperature but this is the case in most cafes. Out of the plentiful choice to sit for a tea break in Cambridge - I’m not planning on returning to Ori Caffee. Even the packet of sweetener came empty 😂 I just can’t!”
