Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the food, with the fish and chips, a steak baguette and pork belly with a special crumble dessert all singled out, and several praise generous portions, including the children's meals. Close behind is the welcome: reviewers describe a host and bartender who go out of their way, and one staff team made a prawn sandwich for a diner who found nothing on the sandwich menu to her liking. Families repeatedly describe the pub as relaxed with toddlers, highchairs and a neurodivergent child, and the gardens draw praise for sunny afternoons with a glass of wine, kids or a dog. Drinks earn mention too, from a fresh, clear pint of Tribute to an Aspall Blush. The one real criticism is from a reviewer who found the starter chicken wings tasted boiled rather than crisp and thought the food arrived oddly fast. One reviewer suggests booking a table, noting people waiting to get in at midday on a Saturday and a packed room by the time they left.

“Popped in for lunch I had steak baguette which was delicious my wife didn't fancy any of the sandwiches on menu but staff were more than happy to make her a prawn sandwich which she thought was excellent. Staff especially the bartender/ manager were exceptional. Place was packed by the time we left so suggest booking a table. We went Saturday dinnertime and people were waiting to get in at 12. Highly recommended. Dog friendly, plenty of parking.”

“The Norton Dog is always our family’s first choice for a meal out. Justin and his team are consistently warm, welcoming, and accommodating—nothing is ever too much trouble, and it’s clear they genuinely care about every customer who walks through the door. The food and service are exceptional every single time we visit. The menu offers such a fantastic variety that choosing what to have is never easy because everything is so tempting. Portion sizes are incredibly generous, including the children’s meals, and we always leave feeling completely satisfied. As the parent of a neurodivergent child, eating out can often feel overwhelming. It’s not always easy to find places where you feel genuinely welcomed and accepted as a family. The Norton Dog is one of those rare places where we’ve never felt judged or made to feel like an inconvenience. The staff are patient, kind, and understanding, which allows us to relax and actually enjoy our meal together. Our children love visiting and are always asking when we can come back. Knowing they’ll be welcomed with the same warmth every time makes such a difference to our family, and it’s something we’ll always be grateful for. The Norton Dog offers outstanding food, exceptional service, and a genuinely family-friendly atmosphere. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it and are already looking forward to our next visit!😊”

“Had a wonderful family meal here today with the grandchildren, and everything was excellent. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and everyone had a fantastic time. Justin is a wonderful host who always makes time for his customers. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and he goes out of his way to accommodate everyone and make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Without a doubt, one of the best pub restaurants in the area. Thank you, Justin—we'll definitely be back!”

“What a delightful country pub! We had a delicious meal (best fish and chips ever btw!!) in lovely surroundings, served by helpful and enthusiastic staff. I especially loved the bartender who gave us the most friendly welcome. We will come back!!”

“A true local gem! We’ve being regulars at this lovely pub for some time now, and it never disappoints. The food is consistently outstanding-beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and clearly made with care and quality ingredients. Whether it’s a relaxed midweek meal or a weekend catch with friends, it always hits the mark. The one selection is another real highlight for me, with a thoughtful range appears perfectly with the menu. It’s clear that just as much attention has been given to the drinks offering as the food. What really sets this place apart though is the atmosphere. The Pub garden is an absolute delight-a peaceful, well Space that’s perfect for enjoying A glass of wine on a sunny day. It’s one of those spots you can easily lose a few hours in Friendly service, great food, excellent wine and a beautiful setting – everything you could want from a local pub. A thoroughly deserved five stars from us and we’ll definitely keep coming back.”
