Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers return to the food, with the Sunday roast, a mixed grill cooked exactly as asked, and a vegetable lasagne singled out as delicious, tasty and filling. Portions are described as generous and good value, with one diner too full for dessert after a starter and main. Close behind come friendly, prompt staff and a good beer selection, plus the garden seating on a sunny day and a connect 4 game on each table. One reviewer with a gluten free allergy describes the chef cooking a mushroom stroganoff that was no longer on the menu in that form, and finding it worth the wait. Criticism is limited but specific. One reviewer says staff were rude on two visits, feeling that friendliness is kept for regulars, and left frustrated after a large bill for food that was just okay. Another notes only one toilet for the ladies, and a third found the gluten free menu short on vegetarian mains apart from jacket potatoes.

“Disappointed with our visit, food is okay, nothing exceptional but also nothing wrong with any of it. But twice now the staff have been rude. Feels like if you’re not a regular then their friendly manor is not continued. Spent £123 and came away frustrated.”

“I've been to Shepherd and Dogs Pub and had a really lovely experience. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent service from start to finish. It's nice to find a place where you can enjoy great food without spending a fortune. I'll definitely be coming back and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for good food, good service, and great value for money.”

“I visited last night and the staff could not have been more helpful. The gluten free menu offered lots of choices but unfortunately did not have many gluten free options (as main courses) that were also vegetarian except jacket potatoes. When I had visited previously (over 2 years ago) they offered a mushroom stroganoff but they have now added chicken to this. The chef agreed to cook me a mushroom stroganoff which I accepted knowing I would have to wait....and it really was worth the wait. It was exactly how I remembered it from a few years ago and was delicious. Huge thank you to the staff and the chef who went out of their way to accommodate my allergy.”
