About Nando's Burnley - Pioneer Place
Nando's Burnley - Pioneer Place is a restaurant in Burnley, at Unit 3, built around flame-grilled peri-peri chicken made with African bird's-eye chilli and offered at different heat levels. Orders go in from customers' own phones at the table. Drinks are self-serve, so guests pour their own, and a self-serve ice cream machine is there for dessert. Pitta with chicken is on the menu, with garlic bread among the sides. Groups order sharing platters and family platters. The restaurant is walk-in and does not take table bookings, and larger tables for three or more people are limited.

Customer Review Summary
Cold food is the most repeated complaint. Reviewers describe a collection order left behind the counter without a heater, a Deliveroo order that arrived cold and undercooked with burnt garlic bread, and a pitta with chicken that came cold with little salad or sauce. One collection diner found a burnt side and cold mash that tasted like powdered mash, though the chicken itself was nice. One reviewer reports an inedible chicken piece, a manager who would not help, and past health issues from undercooked chicken. Table handling also draws criticism. A birthday party of fifteen was split across tables and warned they might be asked to leave, and a regular says a sharing platter group was refused a bigger table that a single diner was given. Others enjoy dining in. Self-pour drinks and the ice cream machine pleased one child, and a server treated a teenage diner and two younger brothers like adults. One party of six, told their food was delayed, was offered complimentary starters.

“Very disappointing I went on a weekend with my daughter and ordered the pitta with chicken and it came cold, hardly any salad or sauce and the chicken piece was very small and thin, the pitta was cold and not even heated like a usual light brown pitta, very expensive too.. what a disappointment”

“Ordered for collection and selected 19:30 as the collection time. We arrived at 19:20, and our food was already sitting behind the counter. Unfortunately, it wasn’t kept under a heater, so by the time we received it, the food was cold. For two meals with no drinks, the total came to just under £40, which felt very expensive considering the quality of the food. One of the sides was completely burnt and, as shown in the photo, should never have been served. The food overall was very average for the price. The mash was cold and tasted like powdered mash, while the chicken itself was nice but not enjoyable because it was cold. This is such a shame, as Nando’s has always been a favourite of ours. However, with the noticeable drop in food quality alongside the increasing prices, I’m not sure we’ll be returning anytime soon. For nearly £40 for two meals, we expected a much better standard. If we had been eating in the restaurant, the food would have been sent back, especially the burnt side, as it simply should not have been served. Unfortunately, because this was a collection order, we weren’t able to do this at the time. It is also surprisingly difficult to report an issue with a collection order afterwards, which is something Nando’s could perhaps look at improving. Customers should have an easy way to report problems with their food and receive an appropriate response, particularly when the food does not meet an acceptable standard.”

“WE eat here on a regular basis. WE usually ask for a bigger table as we get a sharing platter, we get told no on every occasion, the bigger tables are needed for 3 or more people. On our last visit, A single male was seated at a table for two next to us, he asked for a bigger table as he did not want to sit in at a small table next to other people. He was immediately told yes and was given a table for four. We spoke to the manager on our way out and we were told that double standards do not happen. It clearly does, he did agree to talk to the member of staff who was responsible, she did not seem to care, just shrugged her shoulders saying that he requested a bigger space. Double standards!!!”

“We were a party of six, and unfortunately our food was delayed. However, shortly after we placed our order on our phones, a member of staff came over to let us know there would be a 20 - 30 minute wait. They then kindly offered us complimentary starters as an apology, which I thought was excellent customer service. Rather than leaving us wondering where our food was, they kept us informed and proactively addressed the delay. Overall, the staff were friendly, attentive, and made what could have been a frustrating experience much more enjoyable.”
