Quick info
About Golden Orange
Golden Orange is a Chinese takeaway in Burnley, at 26-28 Briercliffe Rd, that runs two menus side by side: a chippy menu and a Chinese menu. Customers can order chips-and-sausage style items from one or Chinese dishes from the other, so a mixed order works from a single counter. The Chinese menu includes chow mein, satay and salt and pepper chicken, and dishes come with a choice of rice or chips. Food is cooked fresh and made to order. A separate gluten free menu is available, and the team will talk customers through it.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise freshly cooked, made to order Chinese dishes in generous portions, with sweet and sour chicken described as lovely and crispy and king prawns as soft, large and tasty. Close behind are the friendly, welcoming staff, and one diner singles out the salt and pepper chicken. Satay and chow mein come up in a family order, while sausage and chips and a gluten free menu appeal to others who alternate between the chippy and the Chinese. A few note that dish prices include rice or chips and call the value good. The main criticism comes from one reviewer who found the special chow mein and egg fried rice poor, saying the noodles were cooked separately from the other ingredients and most of it was thrown away. That reviewer also notes the takeaway does not make Singapore chow mein. Another regrets that there is no delivery but still travels across town. One regular adds that an order has never come out wrong.

“This is the only Chinese I've ever visited that does not make Singapore chow mein. Along with a few other popular Chinese dishes that most other take aways do. So I had to have a Special cow mein and egg fried rice, Which has got to be the Worst tasting Chinese dish I've ever had. Firstly they didn't make it correctly, instead of mixing and cooking all the ingredients together they were cooked the noodles separately from they rest of the food. Then there was the taste. It was not very nice to be fair. I only had a few fork fulls of food and had to throw it away. Im pretty sure that some of the food was either not stoored or looked after correctly or not cooked thoroughly. During the early hours of the morning I had to rush to the toilet and was in there for quite a long time, also I have been sick 3 or 4 times so far and still feeling bad.”

“Absolutely love going to the Golden Orange, we switch each time we go between chippy and Chinese. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff, they are lovely and friendly and the food is amazing. Even offer a Gluten Free menu and are willing to talk you through what's what. Love this little place.”
