About The Fat Giraffe
The Fat Giraffe is a cafe and tea house on Church Street in Burnley, where weekend brunch and breakfast share the menu alongside an afternoon tea that pairs sweet and savoury items. The breakfast list features black pudding among its options, and a gluten-free menu runs alongside the main one for those who need it. The counter displays plenty of cakes alongside the tea service, and tables are set up for relaxed dine-in meals. Dogs are welcome inside, making it a practical stop for anyone walking through with their pet. The kitchen turns out brisk weekday mornings and busier weekend brunches, with the front-of-house keeping service efficient when the room fills.

Most reviewers praise the food, with the breakfast and black pudding singled out, alongside a generous afternoon tea and a well-run gluten free menu that one diner found particularly strong. The café draws repeat visits for its dog friendly welcome and homemade cakes. One reviewer, however, described an extremely long wait with their children, and another was asked to give up a table right after eating, calling the experience disappointing.

“Waited over 30 minutes for basic food orders. Kids got naturally restless due to the long wait. Another customer confronted us, and staff sided with the customer rather than addressing the extreme wait time. Would not recommend for families. Also will say they have it on CCTV my kids standing in tables/ swearing etc . Please post this for everyone to see how you manipulate the bad reviews .”

“Found this absolute gem of a spot in Padiham. The food was brilliant and hit the spot perfectly. I was really impressed with the breakfast, especially the black pudding which was cooked just right. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and the portions were spot on. It is rare to find somewhere so consistent with their cooking. We will definitely be back again soon.”

“We went for weekend brunch with our dog too this small café and were delighted! They have plenty of delicious cakes, terrific breakfast, drinks etc. It is busy and the staff still manage to run it efficiently. Everything feels and tastes homemade 10/10”
