About Treasure of China

Treasure of China is a Chinese restaurant in Bromley, at 2 West St, down a small alley in the town centre. Its dim sum buffet is all-you-can-eat and runs for 90 minutes with a drink included. Every basket is ordered to the table and made fresh, not taken from a buffet counter. Ordering runs in rounds of 6, then 4, then 2, and unfinished baskets are charged. The menu includes prawn and scallop siu mai and prawn har gow, with egg custard buns as the dessert. The kitchen also makes turnip cake and congee for those who want something beyond the baskets. The restaurant takes walk-ins.

Customer Review Summary

Most reviewers come for the bottomless dim sum buffet, which they describe as freshly made to order rather than served from a counter. Prawn dishes draw the most attention, especially the prawn and scallop siu mai, which one pair ordered twice, and har gow called juicy and full of real seafood. Cheung fun, turnip cake, steamed chicken feet, congee, grilled pork dumplings and crab dumplings also get named. Several describe friendly, helpful staff who explain how the buffet works, and one calls the room quiet and nicely air conditioned. The sharpest complaint comes from one reviewer who visited twice and felt monitored by waitresses, who repeatedly questioned an order of 10 dim sum and cited a 6-4-2 ordering rule that was posted nowhere. Two reviewers mention a charge for each basket of wasted food, and one advises ordering only what can be finished. One finds the selection more limited than in Chinatown restaurants, and another wishes buffet takeaway were allowed. Two reviewers single out the egg custard bun as the dessert to leave room for.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Treasure of China is genuinely one of London’s hidden gems. It almost feels unreal that you can get this level of quality at this price. The unlimited dim sum menu (£24.95 per person) is incredible value, and every dish tasted fresh, beautifully made, and restaurant quality. My absolute favourites were the spinach prawn dumplings, which were easily my number one pick, the prawn har gow, the fried calamari, which was perfectly crispy and delicious, and the custard buns, which are honestly the best I’ve had anywhere in London. A special shout out to our server, Kwake HWA. She was so warm, attentive, and welcoming throughout our meal. The service was quick from start to finish, which made the whole experience even better. One thing to keep in mind is to only order what you can finish. They do not offer takeaway for the unlimited menu, and there is a £4.95 charge for each basket of wasted food. It is a fair policy to help reduce food waste. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends or family. I would also recommend checking their Instagram or giving them a quick call before visiting to confirm availability. If you love dim sum, this place absolutely deserves a visit. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent, and the value for money is almost unbelievable for London. I will definitely be coming back.”

“The restaurant was quiet and nicely air conditioned, and the bottomless Dim Sum was such a good deal! It’s slightly more expensive on the weekends but definitely still worth it. Make sure you leave room for the Egg Custard Bun for dessert, it is breathtakingly good 😍 All the Dim Sum that had prawn in it were elite, would definitely come again.”
