Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the poppadoms with their chutney and pickle tray, described as varied and generous, with both the original and spicy versions called crispy. Close behind are the curries: butter chicken as creamy and rich, vegetable rogan josh with a balanced tomato base, korma paired with naan, and honey chicken. Service is repeatedly called friendly, quick and welcoming, and several describe a busy Friday or Saturday room handled well, with music that leaves conversation easy. Some finish on a Caribbean coffee or a flake ice cream. The caveats centre on value and detail. One diner calls it over priced, citing refused tap water, an overcooked onion bhaji, very fatty lamb and only small cans of non alcoholic beer. Another found most beer and cider options unavailable and the service a little intrusive at times, though the food arrived hot and fresh. One reviewer recalls a staff member letting early arrivals in ahead of opening.

“Refused tap water, you have to buy expensive bottle instead, onion banjo full of almost onion paste and very over cooked, lamb extremely fatty - more than should be expected and badly butchered, poor choice of vegetable sides, only offered small cans of non alcoholic beer, very over priced. very sad given how good this places used to be, will never return”

“Very good curry house. We went on a Tuesday as they do starter, main, side and naan for £17.95 which we thought was very good value. Food was very good and service was excellent. Lots of parking and a nice airy restaurant.”

“Taj Brasserie continues to be one of the most consistently excellent Indian restaurants I’ve ever visited. Everything—from the service to the atmosphere to the food—was easily five‑star. The service at Taj is always exceptional. The waiters are quick, welcoming, and genuinely talkative in the best way. Even if you have an issue, they go out of their way to make sure your experience is enjoyable. It’s rare to find a team this attentive and warm. The atmosphere is beautifully traditional, from the interior design to the seating layout. It feels authentic without being overwhelming. The music choices add to the vibe but never make conversation difficult, which is a huge plus. We skipped starters this time, but ordered both the original and spicy poppadoms. They were crispy, delicious, and paired perfectly with the chutney tray—which somehow gets better every visit. Butter Chicken (mine): Creamy, rich, and exactly what you want from the dish. Vegetable Rogan Josh (friend): A comfortable level of spice with a balanced tomato base that didn’t overpower the other flavours. Easy to enjoy and full of depth. My friend had a flake ice cream—simple, classic, and you can’t go wrong with it.I went for a Caribbean coffee, which was rich, flavourful, and a great way to finish the meal. You simply cannot go wrong with Taj Brasserie. The staff, the food, and the overall feel of the restaurant are some of the best I’ve ever experienced. A place that delivers every single time.”
