About King of Spice
King of Spice is an Indian restaurant in Bristol where diners can bring their own drinks to have with the meal. It occupies a unit in a shop parade at 3 Bradley Pavillions, a small space with basic, cafe-style seating and decor. The menu starts with a tandoori mixed starter and moves on to curries such as lamb madras and butter chicken. Breads include keema naan, which suits scooping up the sauce. The restaurant is open daily, evenings only. Pilau rice and mushroom and garlic rice are on offer as sides.

Customer Review Summary
Lamb curries draw the most praise, from a well cooked lamb madras to a flavourful lamb chilli tikka masala, with the karahi, butter chicken and dansak also called tasty. Close behind are the sides: a keema naan, great nan breads and a mushroom and garlic rice that suited the curry sauce. Reviewers describe generous portions, one taking home a doggy bag for a second meal, and two mention bringing their own drinks. The space is described as small and cafe style. Complaints are sharper on the sit-down side: one reviewer says dining in brings slow, uncaring service compared with takeaway, and another says the peshwari naan filling has shrunk. One reviewer reports a pickle tray being wiped with an unwashed hand and reused, and another mentions onions in buckets near the toilets. One diner whose main item was wrong on a collection order had it remade promptly and fresh.

“Worst restsurent in the town. They provide one chutney tray (pickle tray) to multiple customers by just wiping that with unwashed hand in order to look like fresh. They dont maintain hygiene in their restaurant. Even the worst part is their menu price and the money they charge from the customers is different. Thats their business. Just know how to earn money in Illegal way. Even they sell the customer details. I came to realize that after talking to one of their employees..”

“Great lamb madras with really well cooked, quality meat. Similarly good pilau rice and a great keema naan. Basic decor in a basic shop parade unit, if that sort of thing bothers you. It's the food I'm interested in. I've eaten many curries and live on the outskirts of Bradford where we're spoiled with the range and quality of Indian food, but this was as good as anything I've had anywhere. All for under 20 quid”

“My regular treat, always excellent flavours and cheerful service. The amount is such that I usually have a doggy bag which is enough for a second meal at home, making it even better value!”

“First time ordering, placed order on their website for collection (was ready in 30 mins). Unfortunately my main item was wrong but also unsure if that was my fault or the website's. HOWEVER, after going back in and explaining they remade my order and it was absolutely lovely! Thank you to the member or staff who sorted this for me, he was very helpful and understanding, food was remade promptly and fresh. Definitely will be returning there 😊”

“Lovely food but... what happened to the peshwari naans?? They used to be stuffed full of golden flavoured filling, but recently they have about 10-20% of the original amount. Sadly disappointing, what happened?”
