About Deb's Cafe & Takeaway

On Belland Dr, Deb's Cafe & Takeaway is a breakfast cafe and takeaway serving daytime custom on a walk-in basis. The menu runs from a full English breakfast to a breakfast wrap and a jacket potato with chilli and cheese, alongside cappuccinos and lattes. Orders come with table service, with tea and coffee brought over rather than collected at a counter. Beyond the daily sitting, the cafe also provides buffet catering for private events, extending its cooking to gatherings away from the premises. The entrance is step-free, suiting visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children. Outdoor seating gives an option for eating outside during the day. It opens daily for daytime hours only, with no evening service. Tables tend to fill during breakfast hours, so timing a visit around that stretch is worth bearing in mind for walk-ins.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often come back to the full English breakfast, with the large fry up and a bumper breakfast with extra toast singled out as generous portions at a fair price. One diner calls the full english excellently cooked, and another praises the breakfast wrap. Close behind is the jacket potato with chilli and cheese, described as loaded, and several mention the friendly, quick service, a classic British greasy spoon feel and a latte. One reviewer was also pleased with the buffet the cafe supplied for a private event. The criticism is sharper in a few places. One breakfast diner found the toast soggy, was not asked how the eggs were wanted and rated the bacon average, while another called the plate standard and not great. A potato bottom was a bit hard, and one server mixed up drinks after a wait for tea. One reviewer reports overhearing a staff member say they did not care about food hygiene, followed by a correction from a colleague. Several regulars and full tables suggest it stays busy, and one reviewer arrived just after 7am to a friendly welcome.

“Went in for a breakfast, was okay... Toast was soggy, weren't asked how we'd like our eggs done, black pudding was fine, bacon was average. The best thing on the plate was the beans and tomatoes and that comes from a can, wasn't the worst I've ever had but I won't be back and wouldn't recommend it. Especially after hearing one of the girls saying quite loudly "we don't care about food hygiene here" those were her words verbatim. And the other girl responded about 5 seconds later after laughing"we do" because she noticed there were actually people in there eating. sorry. But once I hear someone saying they don't care about hygiene there. That's me done. Gross.”

“Standard local English breakfast. Not great but not bad either. Go again? Probably not. Loads more to choose from the vicinity.”
  • Rose L
“Was recommended here from a friend when I required a caterer to provide a buffet for a private event. Couldn’t recommend enough. Quick and clear communication and a great buffet provided at a reasonable price. Would happily use again.”
